Relationship Between Student Attitude Toward Learning Academics And Instructional Delivery Systems Of Comprehensive Full-Time Career And Technical High Schools, Michael Jones Jan 2005

Relationship Between Student Attitude Toward Learning Academics And Instructional Delivery Systems Of Comprehensive Full-Time Career And Technical High Schools, Michael Jones

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

New federal and state regulations and a changing workforce are forcing comprehensive full-time Career and Technical schools (C and T) to examine the academic component of their programs. This study examined the effect of "week about" and "half-day about" instructional delivery systems (IDS) on students' general attitude toward learning academics. In the "week about" IDS, instruction is delivered through rotating weeks of academic and C and T classes. In the "half-day" about IDS, instruction is delivered by providing one-half day of academics and one-half day of C and T instruction.

Juniors and seniors in three C and T schools in …

Middle School Teachers' Beliefs About How They Communicate Caring And Students' Perceptions Of Their Teachers' Caring Behaviors, Cynthia D. Kainaroi Jan 2005

Middle School Teachers' Beliefs About How They Communicate Caring And Students' Perceptions Of Their Teachers' Caring Behaviors, Cynthia D. Kainaroi

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

The purpose of this study was three-fold: to examine the behaviors middle school teachers use and believe communicate caring and students' perceptions of their caring behaviors; to determine if a discrepancy exists between the two; and to identify the nature of any discrepancies. Participants included 16 eighth grade teachers and 184 eighth grade students. Data were collected through the use of a teacher questionnaire and an anonymous student writing assignment. Teacher and student responses were grouped into emerging themes of caring. The methodology used in this study to analyze the results included calculating and comparing the percentage of teacher and …

The Greater Syracuse Community Indicators Report is a snapshot of Onondaga County portraying trends of the time and opportunities for the future. Community Indicators 2005 is the first update since the 2000 Indicators Report and presents the most recent available data. It is essentially a list of measurements which show where we are advancing as a community and where we are not. These measurements were collected from professionals with access to pertinent data concerning the issues that impact our daily lives. You will find their names and affiliations on the last page. Information was gathered by Samantha Long, Syracuse University …

Biblical Psalms Outside The Psalter, James W. Watts Jan 2005

Biblical Psalms Outside The Psalter, James W. Watts

Religion - All Scholarship

Psalms appear irregularly in the narrative and prophetic literature of the Hebrew Bible, at Exod 15:1-21, Deut 32:1-43, Jdg 5, 1 Sam 2:1-20, 2 Samuel 22, Isa 38:9-20, Jon 2:3-10, Habakkuk 3, Dan 2:20-23, 1 Chron 16:8-36; in the Apocrypha/Deuterocanon at Daniel 3, Jdg 16:1-17, Tobit 13; and in the New Testament at Lk 1:46-5,67-79. More often, fragments of hymns and other poems are quoted as natural parts of story-lines (e.g. 2 Sam 1:17-27; 3:33-34) or are employed as elements in prophetic compositions (e.g. Am 4:13; 5:8; 9:5-6). Complete poetic compositions appear less frequently but more prominently. Many of these …

Hole Drift-Mobility Measurements In Microcrystalline Silicon, T. Dylla, F. Finger, Eric A. Schiff Jan 2005

Hole Drift-Mobility Measurements In Microcrystalline Silicon, T. Dylla, F. Finger, Eric A. Schiff

Physics - All Scholarship

We have measured transient photocurrents on several p-i-n solar cells based on microcrystalline silicon. For two of these samples, we were able to obtain conclusive hole drift-mobility measurements. Despite the predominant crystallinity of these samples, temperature-dependent measurements were consistent with an exponential-bandtail trapping model for transport, which is usually associated with noncrystalline materials. We estimated valence bandtail widths of about 31 meV and hole band mobilities of 1–2 cm2 /V s. The measurements support mobility-edge transport for holes in these microcrystalline materials, and broaden the range of materials for which mobility-edge transport corresponds to an apparently universal band mobility of …

Temperature-Dependent Open-Circuit Voltage Measurements And Light-Soaking In Hydrogenated Amorphous Silcon Solar Cells, Jianjun Liang, Eric A. Schiff, S. Guha, Baojie Yan, Jeff Yang Jan 2005

Temperature-Dependent Open-Circuit Voltage Measurements And Light-Soaking In Hydrogenated Amorphous Silcon Solar Cells, Jianjun Liang, Eric A. Schiff, S. Guha, Baojie Yan, Jeff Yang

Physics - All Scholarship

We present temperature-dependent measurements of the open-circuit voltage VOC(T) in hydrogenated amorphous silicon nip solar cells prepared at United Solar. At room-temperature and above, VOC measured using near-solar illumination intensity differs by as much as 0.04 V for the as-deposited and light-soaked states; the values of VOC for the two states converge below 250 K. Models for VOC based entirely on recombination through deep levels (dangling bonds) do not account for the convergence effect. The convergence is present in a model that assumes the recombination traffic in the as-deposited state involves only bandtails, but which splits the recombination traffic fairly …
