Necrotic Lesion Resistance Induced By Peronospora Tabacina On Leaves Of Nicotiana Obtusifolia, E.P. Heist, D. Zaitlin, Deanna L. Funnell, W.C. Nesmith, C.L. Schardl

Department of Plant Pathology: Faculty Publications

Infection of Nicotiana obtusifolia plant introduction (PI) #555573 by the downy mildew pathogen Peronospora tabacina resulted in a compatible interaction, in which P. tabacina penetrated and freely colonized host leaf tissue. This interaction became incompatible 5 to 6 days later, with the appearance of necrotic lesions (NLs) and inhibition of pathogen growth and subsequent sporulation. NL development depended upon the presence of P. tabacina in host tissue, was not due to the effects of other microbes, and occurred co-incident in time with the pathogen’s ability to produce asexual sporangia on a susceptible N. obtusifolia genotype. Inhibition of the necrotic response …

Shelter Strategies For The Urban Poor: Idiosyncratic And Successful, But Hardly Mysterious, Jerry Kalarickal, Robert M. Buckley Oct 2004

Shelter Strategies For The Urban Poor: Idiosyncratic And Successful, But Hardly Mysterious, Jerry Kalarickal, Robert M. Buckley

Economics - All Scholarship

In 1986 the World Bank prepared a strategy for low-income housing in developing countries. This work grew out of the Bank's efforts to support the urban poor through an extensive housing assistance program that was launched by Bank President McNamara's speech on urban poverty. By that time, the Bank had provided more than $4 billion of such assistance, and had undertaken an extensive research effort to design support for that lending. Much has changed since that time, not only in the way the Bank provides shelter assistance, more than doubling its support since that review, but also in the changing …

David Rawson Notes: January 14, 1994, Transition Institutions, David Rawson

David Rawson Collection on the Rwandan Genocide

No movement yet on transition institutions as part of the official Rwanda peace process. Rawson gives multiple data points as to why. Important to note is that this occurs only a few months prior to genocide.

Without Locke Or Lenin* The Impact Of Resurgent Islam On International Politics/ Mohamad Abu Bakar, Mohamad Abu Bakar Oct 2004
