Gllamm Manual, Sophia Rabe-Hesketh, Anders Skrondal, Andrew Pickles Oct 2004

Gllamm Manual, Sophia Rabe-Hesketh, Anders Skrondal, Andrew Pickles

U.C. Berkeley Division of Biostatistics Working Paper Series

This manual describes a Stata program gllamm that can estimate Generalized Linear Latent and Mixed Models (GLLAMMs). GLLAMMs are a class of multilevel latent variable models for (multivariate) responses of mixed type including continuous responses, counts, duration/survival data, dichotomous, ordered and unordered categorical responses and rankings. The latent variables (common factors or random effects) can be assumed to be discrete or to have a multivariate normal distribution. Examples of models in this class are multilevel generalized linear models or generalized linear mixed models, multilevel factor or latent trait models, item response models, latent class models and multilevel structural equation models. …

The Supreme Court, Guantanamo Bay And Justice Fix-It, Ronald W. Meister Oct 2004

The Supreme Court, Guantanamo Bay And Justice Fix-It, Ronald W. Meister

Cornell Law School Berger International Speaker Papers

In the summer of 2004, the United States Supreme Court ruled on three cases involving individuals detained as "enemy combatants." Given the issues of Presidential power, habeas corpus and individual rights involved, there was a lot of speculation about the historical importance of the decisions. This presentation examines these three decisions and what they teach us about the Supreme Court and government in the 21st century.

Tribe V. Spotted Bear, 2003 C 5946 (Blkft. Tr. Ct. App., Oct. 25, 2004), Blackfeet Appellate Court Oct 2004

Tribe V. Spotted Bear, 2003 C 5946 (Blkft. Tr. Ct. App., Oct. 25, 2004), Blackfeet Appellate Court

Court Decisions

In the Blackfeet Tribal Court of Appeals, the Court considered whether a sentence for assault and trespass was excessive. The Court ruled that the Defendant was sentenced beyond the statutory maximum. The Court remanded back to lower court for resentencing but urged the court to consider the fact that the defendant is a single parent of a small child, has completed anger management classes, and outpatient treatment for chemical dependency, and is not a habitual offender, when considering its new sentence.

USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations

With the transistor density on an integrated circuit doubling every 18 months, Moore’s law seems likely to hold for another decade at least. This exponential growth in digital circuits has led to its increased complexity, better performance and is quickly getting less manageable for design engineers.

To combat this complexity, CAD tools have been introduced and are still being continuously developed, which prove to be of great help in the digital industry. One of the technologies, that is rapidly evolving as an industry standard, is the Very High Speed Integrated Circuit Hardware Description Language, (VHDL), language. The VHDL standard language …

Stimulus-Free Rt Level Power Model Using Belief Propagation, Sathishkumar Ponraj Oct 2004

Stimulus-Free Rt Level Power Model Using Belief Propagation, Sathishkumar Ponraj

USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations

Power consumption is one of the major bottlenecks in current and future VLSI design. Early microprocessors, which consumed a few tens of watts, are now replaced by millions of transistors and with the introduction of easy-to-design tools to explore at unbelievable minimum dimensions, increase in chip density is increasing at a alarming rate and necessitates faster power estimation methods. Gate level power estimation techniques are highly accurate methods but when time is the main constraint, power has to be estimated a lot higher in the abstraction level. Estimating power at higher levels also saves valuable time and cost involved in …
