An Overview Of The Respondent-Generated Intervals (Rgi) Approach To Sample Surveys, S. James Press, Judith M. Tanur
An Overview Of The Respondent-Generated Intervals (Rgi) Approach To Sample Surveys, S. James Press, Judith M. Tanur
Journal of Modern Applied Statistical Methods
This article brings together many years of research on the Respondent-Generated Intervals (RGI) approach to recall in factual sample surveys. Additionally presented is new research on the use of RGI in opinion surveys and the use of RGI with gamma-distributed data. The research combines Bayesian hierarchical modeling with various cognitive aspects of sample surveys.
Statistics And Technology: Reflections On 35 Years Of Change, James J. Higgins
Statistics And Technology: Reflections On 35 Years Of Change, James J. Higgins
Journal of Modern Applied Statistical Methods
From the days when statistical calculations were done on mechanical calculators to today, technology has transformed the discipline of statistics. More than just giving statisticians the power to crunch numbers, it has fundamentally changed the way we teach, do research, and consult. In this article, I give some examples of this from my 35 years as an academic statistician.

“Teaching” In Honor Of Cliff Blair, Howard Stoker
Journal of Modern Applied Statistical Methods
In this article, I conceptualize teaching as the profession of facilitating and stimulating learning. As “teachers”, we help students acquire learning skills that they may expand on later in their life. I review fifteen principles that facilitate effective learning.

Twin Intrauterine And Cornual Gestation In A Case Of Triplet Pregnancy, Sangeeta M. Bhat, Ilham M. Hamdi, Radwan A. Faraj
Twin Intrauterine And Cornual Gestation In A Case Of Triplet Pregnancy, Sangeeta M. Bhat, Ilham M. Hamdi, Radwan A. Faraj
Saudi Medical Journal
Ectopic implantation with in-vitro fertilization-embryo transfer may occur in the cornu or tubal stump, which is otherwise rare. Our patient with previous left salpingostomy and right salpingo-oophorectomy had 4 embryos transferred through in vitro fertilization out of which 3 were successfully implanted with twin intrauterine gestation and cornual pregnancy. The cornual pregnancy ruptured at 12 weeks of gestation and the twin intrauterine pregnancy had a successful outcome.

Computer Science Technical Reports
In the new standards for WLAN security, many choices exist for the authentication process. In this paper, we list eight desired properties of WLAN authentication protocols, survey eight recent authentication protocols, and analyze the protocols according to the desired properties.

Yes, Thankfully, Euclid Lives, Charles M. Haara, Michael Allan Wolf
UF Law Faculty Publications
Professors Haar and Wolf reiterate their endorsement of Progressive jurisprudence, as embodied in the Supreme Court's opinion in Village of Euclid v. Ambler Realty Co., despite Professor Eric Claeys's effort to expose the political theory underlying Progressive legal thought. They highlight problems with Professor Claeys's portrayal of the actual practice of zoning and with his use of history, problems that seriously undercut Professor Claeys's findings regarding the political beliefs of early zoning and planning advocates, the evolution of zoning law in the courts, and the role natural law played in American legal history.

Simultaneous Identification And Correction Of Systematic Error In Bioenergetics Models: Demonstration With A White Crappie (Pomoxis Annularis) Model, Przemyslaw G. Bajer, Robert S. Hayward, Gregory W. Whitledge, Richard D. Zweifel
Simultaneous Identification And Correction Of Systematic Error In Bioenergetics Models: Demonstration With A White Crappie (Pomoxis Annularis) Model, Przemyslaw G. Bajer, Robert S. Hayward, Gregory W. Whitledge, Richard D. Zweifel
Publications
Recent evidence indicates that important systematic error exists in many fish bioenergetics models (BEMs). An approach for identifying and correcting this error is demonstrated with a white crappie (Pomoxis annularis) BEM. Model-predicted trajectories of growth and cumulative consumption for 39 individual white crappie obtained from six 60-day laboratory experiments diverged from observed values by up to 42.5% and 227%, respectively, indicating systematic error in the BEM. To evaluate correlates of the systematic error, model prediction errors were regressed against three major input/output variables of BEMs that were covered by the laboratory experiments: fish body weight (80–341 g), temperature …

Widespread Consumption-Dependent Systematic Error In Fish Bioenergetics Models And Its Implications, Przemyslaw G. Bajer, Gregory W. Whitledge, Robert S. Hayward
Publications
Data from laboratory evaluations of seven fish bioenergetics models (BEMs) were used to investigate possible associations between BEM prediction error in relative growth rate (RGRerror) and levels of model input variables: mean daily food-consumption rate and fish body weight. Correlation between RGRerror and fish body weight was found in three BEMs applied under submaintenance feeding conditions. A strong correlation between RGRerror and mean daily consumption level was observed in all models over full consumption ranges; consumption level explained 70%–96% of variation in RGRerror. All BEMs underestimated (by 2- to 5-fold) growth at lower consumption levels and overestimated (by 2- to …
Comparison Of Bluegill Consumption Rates By Largemouth Bass And Sunshine Bass In Structured And Nonstructured Artificial Environments, Christopher W. Hickey, Christopher C. Kohler
Comparison Of Bluegill Consumption Rates By Largemouth Bass And Sunshine Bass In Structured And Nonstructured Artificial Environments, Christopher W. Hickey, Christopher C. Kohler
Publications
We compared consumption rates of bluegills Lepomis macrochirus by largemouth bass Micropterus salmoides and sunshine bass (female white bass Morone chrysops × male striped bass M. saxatilis) in structured (about 50% coverage with artificial vegetation) and nonstructured 2,000-L fiberglass tanks. In the presence of structure, instantaneous bluegill mortality from consumption by largemouth bass was significantly higher than that caused by sunshine bass but was similar when structure was absent. Instantaneous bluegill mortality from consumption by wild largemouth bass was significantly higher than by pellet-trained largemouth bass in both structured and nonstructured environments. When pellet-trained sunshine bass served as the predator, …

2004 Precision Planted Performance Trials: Corn, R. G. Hall, K. K. Kirby
Agricultural Experiment Station Circulars (1920-1915)
This publication reports the performance of entries in the 2004 South Dakota corn hybrid performance trials for both non-Roundup-Ready™ and Roundup-Ready™ hybrids. Information includes both the most recent 2-year and 1-year grain yields in bushels per acre (bu/ac); and 1-year bushel weight, moisture percentages of shelled corn at harvest, acre harvest population, and stalk lodge percentages. These performance trials are conducted by the South Dakota Crop Performance Testing ( CPT ) program at South Dakota State University.

Plant Pigment Types, Distributions, And Influences On Shallow Water Submerged Aquatic Vegetation Mapping, Carlton R. Hall, Charles R. Bostater Jr., Robert Virnstein
Ocean Engineering and Marine Sciences Faculty Publications
Development of robust protocols for use in mapping shallow water habitats using hyperspectral imagery requires knowledge of absorbing and scattering features present in the environment. These include, but are not limited to, water quality parameters, phytoplankton concentrations and species, submerged aquatic vegetation (SAV) species and densities, epiphytic growth on SAV, benthic microalgae and substrate reflectance characteristics. In the Indian River Lagoon, Fl. USA we conceptualize the system as having three possible basic layers, water column and SAV bed above the bottom. Each layer is occupied by plants with their associated light absorbing pigments that occur in varying proportions and concentrations. …
