An Evaluation Of The Components Of An Effectively Functioning E-Logistics System, Douglas Russell

Theses (Pre-2016)

E-Iogistics has quickly developed into an integral component of everyday business processes. Although the foundation of logistical processes has been in existence since the bartering system was initially implemented, e-logistics began to evolve within the last few decades. In spite of the rapid implementation of e-logistics, a compilation of its complete components remains nonexistent. This thesis presents a comprehensive overview of the components of an e-logistics system as well as reviews specific corporations utilizing e-logistics, This includes a review of the two types of businesses conducted, business to business (B2B) and business to customer (B2C). The two main methods of …

Selfhood And The Search For An Identity: Explaining The Emergence Of The Nineteenth-Century Holiness Movement And Early Church Of The Nazarene, Paul R. George Jr. Dec 2004

Selfhood And The Search For An Identity: Explaining The Emergence Of The Nineteenth-Century Holiness Movement And Early Church Of The Nazarene, Paul R. George Jr.

Dissertations

This dissertation seeks to explain the emergence of the nineteenth-century Holiness Movement and subsequent organization of a national holiness church asthe result of a reconstruction of the cultural-linguistic system of John Wesley. In the process of contact and exchange with American religious pluralism, Wesley's doctrine of Christian perfection and his system of societies were reconstructed by charismatic leaders who selected discursive and nondiscursive elements which they found efficacious. Theological and social changes in the Methodist Episcopal Church compelled holiness advocates to emphasize theinstantaneous aspect of Wesley's doctrine of Christian perfection (entire sanctification) and construct a ritual form which had the …

Effects Of Nicotine And Anatoxin-A Exposures On The Operant Performance Of Rats, Kimberly Ann Jarema Dec 2004

Effects Of Nicotine And Anatoxin-A Exposures On The Operant Performance Of Rats, Kimberly Ann Jarema

Dissertations

Tolerance has previously been shown to develop to nicotine's effects on operant behavior. This experiment explored whether tolerance would still develop when nicotine administrations were separated by three weeks. Anatoxin-a, a nicotinic-receptor agonist, was also tested and the results were compared to nicotine. Male Long Evans rats performed under a multiple VR30 VI30-sec food-reinforcement schedule. Phase I rats were divided into 6 groups of 8 that received four weekly subcutaneous injections of nicotine (0.0-1.8 mg/kg) and anatoxin-a (0-250 mcg/kg) prior to testing sessions. An ED50 was derived, for each compound, from the VR dose-response curve. Phase II rats were divided …

Journal of Medical Education

Journal of Medical Education

Journal of Medical Education

Problem-based learning (PBL,) is a worldwide popular educational philosophy but in some institutions, it is considered a revolutionary teaching strategy to implement. The International Medical University (IMU) has utilized PBL as a key delivery tool of its medical programme and to encourage life-long learning amongst it s students. The university has also carried out faculty development in PBL since its inception in 1992. This is in order to improve PBL sessions, make sure faculty understand what is expected of them during these sessions and ensure our students derive the full benefit of PBL. The aim of this study is to …

Journal of Medical Education

Dental Anomalies In Two Species Of Canids: Red Fox (Vulpes Vulpes) And Gray Fox (Urocyon Cinereoargenteus), Teresa Gisburne

Honors Theses

Samples of 510 gray fox and 150 red fox from southern Illinois were examined for the presence of congenital dental abnormalities. Anomalies were found in 177 gray fox (34.7%) and 25 red fox (16.6%). The most frequent anomalies were oligodonty in both species. The major case of oligodonty was in m3. Anomalies affecting the placement of the tooth (rotations, misalignments) were the next most prominent abnormalities observed. One red fox showed polydonty, and two gray fox showed varying degrees of connation. Other anomalies were seen infrequently. The results from the red fox population are consistent with previous studies; however, the …

The War Of The Worlds, Wells, And The Fallacy Of Empire, John C. Hawley Dec 2004

The War Of The Worlds, Wells, And The Fallacy Of Empire, John C. Hawley

English

In his summary of the contemporary reviews of The War of the Worlds (1898), William J. Scheick notes that their extensive number suggests that readers now recognized that Wells was an emerging writer whom they could not ignore. "There were, again," Scheick notes, "reservations about slipshod style, hasty plotting, vulgar content and cheap effects; but these doubts were overrun by the general verdict that this romance was one of the most ingenious stories of the year and the best work to date of an author who was one of the most original of the younger English novelists" (Scheick 5). Earlier …

Modeling The Strategic Impact Of Management Accounting Methods On The Implementation Of Lean Manufacturing, David Joseph Meade

Dissertations

This study examines the impact from the adaptation of lean manufacturing strategies on key external financial performance measures as reported by a number of management accounting methods. The research is not concerned with creating a justification for lean manufacturing strategies but rather it evaluates the inadequacies of standard financial reporting methods to accurately reflect operational improvements possible in the key performance measures through the early stages of a lean program.

ProModel simulation software is used in conjunction with Microsoft Excel and Visual Basic to create a simulated repetitive manufacturing environment and production planning and control system. The study examines the …

Plant germplasm collections may offer genetic variability useful in identifying insect resistance. The goal of this project was to evaluate buffalograss genotypes [Buchloe dactyloides (Nutt.) Engelm.] for resistance to the chinch bug, Blissus occiduus Barber (Hemiptera: Lygaeidae), and to relate resistance to ploidy level, chinch bug number, and pubescence. Forty-eight buffalograss genotypes from diverse geographic locations were evaluated in replicated studies under greenhouse conditions. Of the genotypes studied, four were highly resistant, 22 were moderately resistant, 19 were moderately susceptible, and three were highly susceptible to chinch bug damage. The mean number of chinch bugs was significantly different among …
