The Human Resources department of the City of Sioux Falls would like an application to facilitate their daily applicant tracking. This project documents the steps that are necessary to create the web-based applicant tracking application. Through this application, the applicants may apply for the City's jobs online; the Human Resources department can post new jobs online, search jobs online, do the applicant tracking, send job interests email notification etc. The Human Resources used to use paper applications only and there were no web-based applications at all. Hybrid Or Counterpoise? A Study Of Transitional Trebuchets, Michael J. Basista

This study investigates the engineering and use of a proposed type of trebuchet in the Middle Ages. A study by a prominent historian has suggested the existence of a type of siege weapon that made use of both human and gravitational forces to fire its projectile. My research will investigate this claim by examining select sources, reviewing the engineering principles involved, and determining the viability of such a machine.

After dealing with this theory I will offer my own new interpretation made from the sources. This interpretation will center on the application of ancient technology to make trebuchets more efficient. …

Our research will entail a survey of high school certified athletic trainers in the Great Lakes Athletic Trainers' Association (District 4) of the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA) on lightning safety policy. The NATA has written a position statement (Walsh, 2000) on lightning safety to educate athletic trainers and other individuals on the dangers of lightning and safety guidelines to follow. The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) also has lightning safety guidelines for the schools it governs. For most school districts it has become increasingly difficult to gain voter support for bond referendums. In addition, there is little information available for the superintendent and board of education to reference when considering a bond campaign in their community.

In response to these concerns, "A Superintendent's Guide to a Successful Bond Proposal" was developed to provide campaign strategies, timelines and a sequential list of events for the superintendent to consider. Examples of campaign strategies employed by the Edwardsburg Public Schools, Edwardsburg, Michigan during their successful bond referendum are included as appendices throughout the guidebook.

Current research in the fields of shame, body image, and adolescent female weight has had little convergence until recently. Biological changes that occur during adolescence, particularly weight gain for females, may result in feelings of shame. Shame is an involuntary reaction to the belief that the self is inherently flawed. Body image begins to form in early childhood, and "is a multidimensional construct that refers to subjective perceptual and altitudinal experiences about one's body, particularly one's physical appearance" (Cash, Melnyk, & Hrabosky, 2004, p.305). This dissertation seeks to explain the emergence of the nineteenth-century Holiness Movement and subsequent organization of a national holiness church asthe result of a reconstruction of the cultural-linguistic system of John Wesley. In the process of contact and exchange with American religious pluralism, Wesley's doctrine of Christian perfection and his system of societies were reconstructed by charismatic leaders who selected discursive and nondiscursive elements which they found efficacious. Theological and social changes in the Methodist Episcopal Church compelled holiness advocates to emphasize theinstantaneous aspect of Wesley's doctrine of Christian perfection (entire sanctification) and construct a ritual form which had the …

The responsibility for training counseling students to work effectively with the elderly falls upon counselor educators. Textbooks convey cultural values and contribute to what is learned by students. Specifically,textbooks may contribute to how counseling students think about older adults and aging issues. This study was designed to determine how older adults and aging issues are represented in counselor education texts.

台灣培養出來的牙醫師人力已達先進國家之標準，但對牙醫學教育「品質」方面的檢討，偏重於課程，缺乏整體性的評估，有待進一步的檢討及改革。因此台灣牙醫學教育的評鑑制度及其準則有加以研究之必要。本研究報告是要：l)提議建立台灣牙醫學教育的評鑑制度，確保並提昇國內牙醫學教育水準；2)提出一套適合台灣牙醫學教育使用之評鑑指標，做為國內牙醫師養成教育機構評鑑之用。本計劃曾參與中華牙醫學會與台大牙醫學系所舉辦之牙醫教育研討會，主辦台灣牙醫學教育研討會及台灣牙醫學教育改革之實施座談會。綜合各國之評鑑準則及各次牙醫學教育研討會與座談會，所擬訂之評鑑準則包含下列十二項：牙醫學教育課程概觀、組織架構與行政系統、硬體設施與資源、師資、財務狀況與預算、招生方式、學生事務、課程、臨床教育、研究與學術活動、畢業生的評估、優劣機會及不利因素(SWOT)分析等。與會的牙醫學教育專家一致認為有建立牙醫學教育評鑑制度之必要；對於本計劃所擬訂的評鑑準則認為大致可行。 唯牙醫學教育評鑑委員會之組成及委員會是否具公信力及公權力，是各專家疑慮之處。評鑑委員會對於牙醫教育機構之困難能否加以協助，對於牙醫教育機構之主管當局及直屬犬學有無約束力，是各專家所關切。

近年來，「醫學人文教育」在台灣醫學院校成為一種時代性的「政治正確」企圖重新「把人帶回醫學」，期許新世代的醫療人員能具備更豐富的「人文素養」。本文試圖以台灣「醫學人文教育」為主軸，擬定幾組研究問題，從文獻回顧的歷程描繪台灣醫學教育改革中，關於「醫學人文」的主要論述形成背景、轉變歷程，以及實踐風貌。我們期盼這樣的研究探索，能在各種教改方案研擬之外，開啓台灣醫學教育研究的新取向。本文提出了台灣醫學教育改革中，關於「醫學人文」的主要三個論述與實踐的主軸，包括(1)「醫學人文教育」成為醫學教育改革和通識教育發展趨勢的聯繫，(2)「醫學人文教育」作為醫界社會運動的路徑，(3)「醫學人文教育」與「美感經驗」和「藝術鑑賞」的聯繫。此外，本文提出目前關於「醫學人文教育」改革的三個主要的爭議，分別是(1)「貧穿」與「淨空」的爭議，(2)「一般性」與「特殊性」的辯論，(3)「認知」與「態度」的取捨。

台灣當前醫學人文課程之實施現況與推展困境, 美英 高, 碧鴻 呂, 齡霙 褚

為了詳盡呈現和比較台灣正在全面進行的醫學人文課程改革之實施與內涵，以及各校在實施如此重大變革時所面臨的問題與困境，本研究採用深入訪談的方式，針對全國十一所醫學院校的課程主要決策和執行者，以及相關之專家學者，總計32位進行面對面的訪談，以探討與比較目前台灣各醫學院校之醫學人文相關課程，包括實施內涵與過程中所面臨的相關問題子。此外為了希望對當前臺灣的醫學人文教育課程有深入而全面的瞭解和比較，也進行了醫學人文課程實施之調查，搜集所有醫學院校醫學系91學年度上下學期的開課課表，並加以分析。研究的結果發現在課程方面，從各校所開的課程中可以歸類為由醫學系特別為醫學生所開設，與醫學相關的非醫學專業課程，以及一般通識課程。在第一及第二部分課程的分類上，有不少重疊的灰色地帶。而各校在雅行醫學人文課程時，遭過到不少的困難，不同的學校所面臨的困境也不盡相同。根據受訪者所提出的問題，約略可以分為老師和學生兩方面。在老師方面，主要的問題是師資不足和老師認同兩者。而在學生方面，主要的問題則包括對醫學人文課程的認同不夠、缺乏主動學習的精神，和學生人數太多等。

The aims of this study were to develop a multimedia anti-drug program for adolescents to increase their knowledge about consequence of drug use, to strengthen commitment to deny drug use and to refine the skills of drug refusal. The content of the multimedia anti-drug programs includes five characteristics: (1) negative effects on health by drug use interpreted by a psychiatrist; (2) the judicial procedures about drug use explained by a judge; (3) the abstinence treatment accounted for by an official working in jails; (4) the environment of juvenile courts and detention centers introduced; and (5) effective skills of drug refusal …

錄影教學應用於人際溝通訓練之效果, 翠瀅 汪, 陳美津 施, 明宜 吳

除了專業知識與技能，人際溝通技巧亦是醫療專業人員的重要素養之一。為增進學生臨床溝通技巧，成大職能治療系因此在大三接觸臨床實習之前，規劃一個人際溝通的教學單元，以錄影方式進行小組教學與操作評量的課程設計。本研究以修課的31位同學為對象，在教學單元結束後，收集其意見，作為課程實施的檢討。結果發現80.6%~93.5%的同學認為本課程有助於觀察與會談的學習， 48.4%的同學，認為有助於對自我的了解。在教材與教法的學習助益上，依序為他人回饋(96.8%%、錄影教學(90.3%)與教師說明(90.3%)、角色扮演(80.7%)。講義內容的助益最少(58.1%)。雖然部分的同學對拍攝與觀看自己的錄影帶，感到不自在(41.9%,38.7%)，半數以上肯定自己在溝通技巧上較前有進步，也較具自信(54.8%~67.7%)。利用錄影為教學媒介，引發學習者經驗的再現、重塑與創造，的確強化了操作與情意的元素的學習。如何應用客觀的評量以了解學生學習是否具備實質成效，需要進一步的教學評量方案設計，此為未來課程改良的努力方向。

論述醫學圖書館員之角色, 玉芬 朱

醫學圖書館員在臨床醫學教育中是不可或缺的角色。在美國醫學圖書館實施「臨床醫學圖書館員」CML(Clinical Medical Librarian)計畫，實際參與臨床教學活動，提供立即性的醫學文獻與資訊，改善醫療從業人員對病人的照護；並且協助醫學院學生完成臨床訓練。在台灣醫學圖書館員ML(Medical Librarians)的角色，侷限於圖書館內或網頁上，提供各項服務，不參與或支援臨床教學活動。不論CML或ML,他們都是醫學資訊的傳播者、指導者和教育者的角色。本文先簡介美國醫學圖書館實施CML計畫與成效，再陳述國內醫學圖書館員的角色。

P300 speller is a communication tool with which one can input texts or commands to a computer by thought. The amplitude of the P300 evoked potential is inversely proportional to the probability of infrequent or task-related stimulus. In existing P300 spellers, rows and columns of a matrix are intensified successively and randomly, resulting in a stimulus frequency of 1/N (N is the number of rows or columns of the matrix). We propose a new paradigm to display each single character randomly and individually (therefore reducing the stimulus frequency to 1/(N*N)).
