The Organizational Analysis Of Non-Governmental Development Organizations (Ngdos), Urelmaa Tsolmon
Theses and Dissertations
This paper uses the current organizational ecology theory to clearly define organizational population ecology constructs of non-governmental development organizations, and offers specific terminology and understanding of main organizational forms and relational dynamics that define the population ecology of these organizations. The paper examines closely the significance of such interaction and interdependence through transactional relationship of obtaining and distributing of resources and forces of competition. Original organizational theory frameworks are offered for future NGDO organizational research.

Transcript: Listen to today's Commentary Introduction: Who speaks best for health care: Paul Martin or the provincial premiers? Vivian McAlister is a transplant surgeon and a professor of surgery in London, Ontario. On Commentary, he says move over Ottawa..the provinces should take the lead in improving medicare. Vivian McAlister: During last month's election campaign Paul Martin set himself up as the saviour of medicare. He was reinforcing an old theme: that Ottawa must keep a close eye on the provinces lest they experiment - looking for different ways to provide health care. The prime minister conveniently ignored the fact that …

Maskless Photolithography Using Plasma Displays, David P. Fries
Maskless Photolithography Using Plasma Displays, David P. Fries
USF Patents
The present invention is a maskless photolithography system and method using a plasma display for creating two-dimensional and three-dimensional structures. Advantageously, the invention does not require masks, templates or stencils to create each of the planes or layers on a multi layer two-dimensional or three-dimensional structure. The invention employs a plasma display having individually addressable pixels to generate and direct light onto an object that has photoreactive or photoresist compounds applied to the exposed surface. Unlike conventional plasma displays that generate visible light, the plasma display of the current invention lacks the phosphor coating conventionally used to convert ultraviolet (UV) …
Probabilistic Methodology For Record Linkage Determining Robustness Of Weights, Krista Peine Jensen
Probabilistic Methodology For Record Linkage Determining Robustness Of Weights, Krista Peine Jensen
Theses and Dissertations
Record linkage is the process that joins separately recorded pieces of information for a particular individual from one or more sources. To facilitate record linkage, a reliable computer based approach is ideal. In genealogical research computerized record linkage is useful in combing information for an individual across multiple censuses.
In creating a computerized method for linking censuse records it needs to be determined if weights calculated from one geographical area, can be used to link records from another geographical area. Research performed by Marcie Francis calculates field weights using census records from 1910 and 1920 for Ascension Parish Louisiana. These …

Ozone And Mortality: A Meta-Analysis Of Time-Series Studies And Comparison To A Multi-City Study (The National Morbidity, Mortality, And Air Pollution Study), Michelle L. Bell, Jonathan M. Samet, Francesca Dominici
Johns Hopkins University, Dept. of Biostatistics Working Papers
While many time-series studies of ozone and daily mortality identified positive associations, others yielded null or inconclusive results. We performed a meta-analysis of 144 effect estimates from 39 time-series studies, and estimated pooled effects by lags, age groups,cause-specific mortality, and concentration metrics. We compared results to estimates from the National Morbidity, Mortality, and Air Pollution Study (NMMAPS), a time-series study of 95 large U.S. cities from 1987 to 2000. Both meta-analysis and NMMAPS results provided strong evidence of a short-term association between ozone and mortality, with larger effects for cardiovascular and respiratory mortality, the elderly, and current day ozone exposure as …

Introduction Of Healing Touch Into An Established Torture Treatment Center: A Graduate Field Project, Kathleen Mccullough-Zander
Introduction Of Healing Touch Into An Established Torture Treatment Center: A Graduate Field Project, Kathleen Mccullough-Zander
Theses and Graduate Projects
Healing Touch, an energetic treatment modality developed by nurses, was introduced into an established torture treatment center with the goal of decreasing torture-related symptoms and increasing survivors' overall sense of well-being and health. Three methods of evaluation were used to determine if the project goal had been met. The first project objective of showing a decrease in participants' reported feelings of anxiety and depression was not achieved. The second project objective of demonstrating a reduction in participant's reported levels of pain was achieved with statistically significant results. The third project objective of obtaining statements of recognition of the therapy as …
