Church Growth Consulting: Focusing On The ‘Main’ Thing Or Boosting The Reproductive Quotient, R. Daniel Reeves
Church Growth Consulting: Focusing On The ‘Main’ Thing Or Boosting The Reproductive Quotient, R. Daniel Reeves
Journal of the American Society for Church Growth
In this article, I want to challenge the complexity and mechanism of some of the consulting practices we have used and show how important it is to “keep our eye on the ball,” and focus on the “main thing,” – the “reproductive quotient.” What is the reproductive quotient? Very simply it is that evidence or measure that shows a congregation that it is meeting its God given assignment of winning and making disciples of Jesus Christ. As we help a congregation to raise its “reproductive quotient,” we focus attention on four specific areas – reproducing new disciples, new leaders, new …

The Role Of Identity In Language Acquisition: A Cross- Generational Perspective., Darlene Annette Snider
The Role Of Identity In Language Acquisition: A Cross- Generational Perspective., Darlene Annette Snider
MA TESOL Collection
In this paper I will reflect on the role of identity as it relates to second language acquisition. My hypothesis is that second language acquisition can be slowed or even halted when students cannot adapt to the culture of the language they are studying. Student’s facing cultural conflict tend to distance themselves from the community thereby creating barriers in the learning process. This hypothesis is based upon my own experience as a third generation Canadian. I believe the effective classroom will work to reduce cultural conflict by affirming the learner’s cultural identity and sense of self as they explore the …

Will The Correct Legal Standard Please Step Forward: When Should An Employer's Affirmative Duty Under Erisa To Disclose Potential Plan Changes Kick-In?, Sandra L. Sprott
Texas Wesleyan Law Review
In sum, this Comment examines whether ERISA imposes an affirmative obligation on employer-fiduciaries to disclose proposed changes in their employee benefits plans and when that duty to disclose arises. Part II provides a historical perspective of ERISA and the duty to disclose. Part III examines when an employer is considered a fiduciary under ERISA. Part IV explains ERISA's reporting and disclosure requirements and its impact on the duty to disclose proposed changes. Part V takes into consideration the duty of loyalty. Part VI analyzes the two conflicting standards. Ultimately, after a detailed analysis, Part VII of this Comment concludes that …

Inner Turmoil: Redefining The Individual And The Conflict Of Rights Between Woman And Fetus Created By The Prenatal Protection Act, Michelle Haynes
Inner Turmoil: Redefining The Individual And The Conflict Of Rights Between Woman And Fetus Created By The Prenatal Protection Act, Michelle Haynes
Texas Wesleyan Law Review
A fetus should not be labeled an "individual" if it is only going to receive some of the protection from third parties to which an individual is entitled. Instead, this Comment urges the Texas Legislature to repeal the criminal penalties portion of the Prenatal Protection Act and replace it with a criminal statute that protects a woman's right to carry her pregnancy to term and provides enhancements for injuries to a pregnant woman or alternatively, a criminal statute that protects the potential life of the unborn fetus as an "individual" and does not provide exceptions for the mother's conduct when …
