An Assessment Of The Factors That Affect The Level Of "Perception Of Office Politics", Charles U. Phillips Oct 2004

An Assessment Of The Factors That Affect The Level Of "Perception Of Office Politics", Charles U. Phillips

Graduate Student Dissertations, Theses, Capstones, and Portfolios

The culture of an organization is often the primary indicator of the expected and accepted employee behavior. Organizations with weak directives, poor communication, and ineffectively managed cultures are breeding grounds for the negative dysfunctional interpersonal dynamics referred as "office politics." Studies indicate that considerable time and energy are lost to solving problematic issues originating from the influences of office politics in organizations with weak cultural expectations. Therefore, it is conceivable that developing a positive organizational culture that facilitates certain values is an important step in eliminating the ill effects of office politics.

The purpose of this quantitative non-experimental study was …

An Affinity For Users: Data Set: Survey Results, Athena Hoeppner, Meg Scharf

Faculty Scholarship and Creative Works

Data from an Affinity Mapping mapping project. Students entering the UCF Library were invited to help redesign the Libraries web site by constructing Affinity Maps. The participants worked in groups ranging in size from 1 to 4 students who may or may not have known each other before the project. Participating students were provided with magnets pre-printed with terms and categories from the Libraries web pages. Students were instructed to select the terms which they thought should be on the Libraries web site and to organize the selected terms on a magnetic white board. Markers and blank magnets for their …

Economic Systems Of Oecd Nations: Impact And Evolution, Frederic L. Pryor Oct 2004

Economic Systems Of Oecd Nations: Impact And Evolution, Frederic L. Pryor

Economics Faculty Works

This essay argues that economic systems should be defined in terms of clusters of complementary institutions. To show how such an approach can be carried out, I use a cluster analysis technique and data on forty different economic institutions in OECD nations to isolate four quite different economic systems. After specifying the most important institutional clusters in each system, I then examine what impact these economic systems have on various indicators of economic performance. Finally, I show how such an approach allows particular evolutionary patterns of the systems to be analyzed.

Each Sensory Nerve Arising From The Geniculate Ganglion Expresses A Unique Fingerprint Of Neurotrophin Receptor Genes, Albert I. Farbman, Nick Guagliardo, Suzanne I. Sollars, David L. Hill Oct 2004

Each Sensory Nerve Arising From The Geniculate Ganglion Expresses A Unique Fingerprint Of Neurotrophin Receptor Genes, Albert I. Farbman, Nick Guagliardo, Suzanne I. Sollars, David L. Hill

Psychology Faculty Publications

Neurons in the geniculate ganglion, like those in other sensory ganglia, are dependent on neurotrophins for survival. Most geniculate ganglion neurons innervate taste buds in two regions of the tongue and two regions of the palate; the rest are cutaneous nerves to the skin of the ear. We investigated the expression of four neurotrophins, nerve growth factor (NGF), brain‐derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), neurotrophin 3 (NT‐3), and NT‐4, and five neurotrophin receptors, trkA, trkB, trkC, p75, and truncated trkB (Trn‐B) in single sensory neurons of the adult rat geniculate ganglion associated with the five innervation fields. For fungiform papillae, a glass …
