An Icon Of Jesus Michael: The Archangel As Antagonist Of Satan, Raymond Hagan
An Icon Of Jesus Michael: The Archangel As Antagonist Of Satan, Raymond Hagan
Master of Sacred Theology Seminar Papers
The attempt here is not to identify Jesus as being on a par with angels, or with an individual angel per se. Indeed, the Epistle to Hebrews discusses the relationship between Christ and angels, making a clear differentiation. The doctrine of Christ's humanity also serves this distinction - "he became man in order to save men." Christ took the form of a man, not of an angel, in order to bring about salvation. The issue of worship demonstrates the same conclusion. Angels are not to be worshipped (see John in Revelation), but the Son is to be worshipped.

Extending The Revelation Effect To Faces: Haven’T We Met Before?, Brian H. Bornstein, Jeffrey R. Wilson
Extending The Revelation Effect To Faces: Haven’T We Met Before?, Brian H. Bornstein, Jeffrey R. Wilson
Department of Psychology: Faculty Publications
The revelation effect is an episodic memory phenomenon where participants are more likely to report that they recognized an item when it is judged after an interpolated task than when it is not. Although this effect is very robust, nearly all of the extant research has used verbal or readily verbalizable stimuli. The present two experiments examined whether a revelation effect could be produced with non-verbal stimuli such as faces. A revelation effect was found in both experiments, for both targets and lures, using faces as stimuli. The findings are integrated into the prevailing empirical frameworks for the revelation effect …

Institute of Liturgical Studies Occasional Papers
(excerpt) "I am especially pleased to be among you, because I have had the gift of reflecting on worship in the ELCA in the past, thanks to the late Paul Nelson of blessed memory and Scott Weidler of your Worship Office. They asked me to create a video series to accompany The Use of the Means of Grace. Perhaps some of you know that series. It’s entitled These Things Matter: Word, Baptism and Communion. A second video series I help develop was a Lenten series of reflections on worship entitled God is Here!"

Nymphs of the brown ear tick, Rhipicephalus appendiculatus, were fed on heparinised bovine blood infected with Theileria parva parasites in an in vitro feeding system consisting of rabbit skin membranes. The main feeding and development parameters such as the mean attachment rate, feeding duration and engorgement weights of membrane-fed ticks were not significantly different from nymphs fed on cattle. The moulting rate was also comparable although a slight significant difference was observed. Assessment of infection prevalence and abundance with T. parva in adults indicated that the membrane-fed ticks acquired infection to the same level as those fed on cattle. Stabilates …

Methanogenic Archaea And Human Periodontal Disease, Paul W. Lepp, Mary M. Brinig, Cleber C. Ouverney, Katherine Palm, Gary C. Armitage, David A. Relman
Faculty Publications, Biological Sciences
Archaea have been isolated from the human colon, vagina, and oral cavity, but have not been established as causes of human disease. In this study, we reveal a relationship between the severity of periodontal disease and the relative abundance of archaeal small subunit ribosomal RNA genes (SSU rDNA) in the subgingival crevice by using quantitative PCR. Furthermore, the relative abundance of archaeal small subunit rDNA decreased at treated sites in association with clinical improvement. Archaea were harbored by 36% of periodontitis patients and were restricted to subgingival sites with periodontal disease. The presence of archaeal cells at these sites was …
