Students’ Cognitive Load On Computer Programming Instructional Process Using Example-Problem-Based Learning And Problem-Based Learning Instructional Model At Vocational High School, Admaja Dwi Herlambang, Muhammad Rifqy Ramadana, Satrio Hadi Wijoyo, Muneeroh Phadung Sep 2003

Students’ Cognitive Load On Computer Programming Instructional Process Using Example-Problem-Based Learning And Problem-Based Learning Instructional Model At Vocational High School, Admaja Dwi Herlambang, Muhammad Rifqy Ramadana, Satrio Hadi Wijoyo, Muneeroh Phadung

Elinvo (Electronics, Informatics, and Vocational Education)

This paper fills an essential gap in applying cognitive load theory in teaching computer programming within vocational settings. It is an important area to consider for improving students' learning processes who intend to enter the rapidly changing technology sector. This study assessed the distinct impacts of the instructional paradigms, specifically Example-Problem-Based Learning (EPBL) and Problem-Based Learning (PBL), on students’ cognitive loads upon framing an iterative structure lesson on computer programming. Vocational programming education is chosen for this purpose because vocational education faces unique challenges in integrating practical skills development with theoretical understanding, and programming tasks involve high cognitive demands. Basis Variation In Nebraska, Roger K. Wilson, Richard T. Clark, Lynn Lutgen Sep 2003

Basis Variation In Nebraska, Roger K. Wilson, Richard T. Clark, Lynn Lutgen

Cornhusker Economics

Choosing an appropriate basis is critical to using futures and option markets. The NebGuide The Importance of the “Basis” in Trading on the Futures Market,1 states, “If the producer plans to use hedging as a marketing strategy he must first understand basis and its patterns for his local area. He must know how the basis changes over time and how much fluctuation can occur over a short period. He must understand that hedging will not entirely eliminate price risk from marketing. The basis has to be estimated as it can be the key to receiving the expected price, or better. …

Pair Distribution Function In A Two-Dimensional Electron Gas, Juana Moreno, D. C. Marinescu Sep 2003

Pair Distribution Function In A Two-Dimensional Electron Gas, Juana Moreno, D. C. Marinescu

Faculty Publications

We calculate the pair distribution function, g(r), in a two-dimensional electron gas and derive a simple analytical expression for its value at the origin as a function of rs. Our approach is based on solving the Schrödinger equation for the two-electron wavefunction in an appropriate effective potential, leading to results that are in good agreement with quantum Monte Carlo data and with the most recent numerical calculations of g(0) (Bulutay and Tanatar 2002 Phys. Rev. B 65 195116). We also show that the spin-up spin-down correlation function at the origin, g↑↓(0), is mainly independent of the degree of spin polarization …

Task 32 Delayed Hydride Cracking Of Spent Fuel Cladding Under Repository Conditions, Ajit K. Roy, Anthony Hechanova, Amy J. Smiecinski Sep 2003

Task 32 Delayed Hydride Cracking Of Spent Fuel Cladding Under Repository Conditions, Ajit K. Roy, Anthony Hechanova, Amy J. Smiecinski

Publications (YM)

The objective of this quality-affecting task is to evaluate the susceptibility of spent nuclear fuel cladding materials (zirconium alloys) to stress corrosion cracking (SCC), delayed hydride cracking (DHC) and localized corrosion (pitting/crevice) in simulated repository environments. During the first year of this project, major efforts were focused on developing the infrastructure for performing the desired testing involving two highly corrosion-resistant alloys namely, zircaloy-2 (Zr-2) and zircaloy-4 (Zr-4) in simulated concentrated acidic water (SAW) and modified SAW (SAWM). Modification of the SAW chemistry was done by adding hydrochloric acid (HC1) to achieve lower pH. The construction of the "Materials Performance Laboratory …

Context-Sensitive Data Structures Supporting Software Development In Ad Hoc Mobile Settings, Jamie Payton, Gruia-Catalin Roman, Christine Julien Sep 2003

Context-Sensitive Data Structures Supporting Software Development In Ad Hoc Mobile Settings, Jamie Payton, Gruia-Catalin Roman, Christine Julien

All Computer Science and Engineering Research

Context-aware computing, an emerging paradigm in which applications sense and adapt their behavior to changes in their operational environment, is key to developing dependable software for use in the often unpredictable settings of ad hoc networks. However, designing an application which gathers, maintains, and adapts to context can be a difficult undertaking, even for a seasoned programmer. Our goal is to simplify the programming task by hiding such issues from the programmer, allowing one to quickly and reliably produce a context-aware application for use in ad hoc networks. With this goal in mind, we introduce a novel abstraction called context-sensitive …

A Software Engineering Perspective On Context-Awareness In Ad Hoc Mobile Environments, Christine Julien, Gruia-Catalin Roman, Jamie Payton Sep 2003

A Software Engineering Perspective On Context-Awareness In Ad Hoc Mobile Environments, Christine Julien, Gruia-Catalin Roman, Jamie Payton

All Computer Science and Engineering Research

Context-aware mobile applications require constant adaptation to their changing environments. Technological advancements have increased the pervasiveness of mobile computing devices such as laptops, handhelds, cellular phones, and embedded sensors. The sheer amount of context information necessary for adaptation places a heightened burden on application developers as they must manage and utilize vast amounts of data from diverse sources. Facilitating programming in this data-rich environment requires an infrastructure for sensing, collecting, and providing context information to applications. In this paper, we demonstrate the feasibility of providing such an infrastructure. It allows programmers to focus on high-level interactions among programs and to …
