A pilot-scale land treatment unit (LTU) was constructed at the former Guadalupe oil production field with the purpose of investigating the effect of co-substrate addition on the bacterial community and the resulting rate and extent of total petroleum hydrocarbon (TPH) degradation. The TPH was a weathered mid-cut distillate (C10-C32) excavated from the subsurface and stockpiled before treatment. A control cell (Cell 1) in the LTU was amended with nitrogen and phosphorus while the experimental cell (Cell 2) was amended with additional complex co-substrate—corn steep liquor. The problem of concurrent markup hierarchies in XML encodings of documents has attracted attention of a number of humanities researchers in recent years. The key problem with using concurrent hierarchies to encode documents is that markup in one hierarchy is not necessarily well-formed with respect to the markup in another hierarchy. Previously proposed solutions to this problem rely on the XML expertise of the editors and their ability to maintain correct DTDs for complex markup languages. The Lease Cap And Letters Of Credit: A Reply To Professor Dolan, Laura B. Bartell

In a recent article in The Banking Law Journal, Professor John Dolan argued that the limit on claims by lessors established in Section 502(b)(6) of the Bankruptcy Code precludes a lessor from recovering a greater amount under a standby letter of credit.' Therefore, he maintained, although the lessor may draw down a greater amount under the letter of credit in accordance with the independence principle, a trustee or debtor in possession may recover any amount so received in excess of the amount the lessor could have recovered directly from the lessee/debtor under the Code. The National Environmental Compliance Handbook (NECH) provides guidance to Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) officials about how to comply with Federal environmental requirements when delivering technical and financial assistance. The objectives of this Handbook are to: • Improve the quality of plans and decisions by integrating environmental considerations into the planning process; • Promote efficiency in preparing environmental documentation; • Provide a systematic framework for integrating the NRCS planning process and environmental requirements; and • Serve as a reference for NRCS environmental compliance procedures.
