Good Helping Relationships In Child Welfare: Co-Authored Stories Of Success (Summary Report), Catherine De Boer, Nick Coady
Partnerships for Children and Families Project
This project involved multiple, in-depth interviews with six worker-client dyads from child welfare. The dyads were selected on the basis of workers and clients agreeing that they had worked through some degree of negative interpersonal process toward the achievement of a good working relationship. For each dyad, two individual interviews with the worker and the client were followed by a joint interview. These interviews produced stories that described from workers' and clients' perspectives how the relationship developed over time, how difficulties were dealt with, and what impact the relationship had on the participants. Although these stories were written by the …

Nursing Faculty Publications
The Health Enhancement of the Rural Elderly (HERE) project is a federally funded grant project designed to empower the rural elderly in Butler and Edmonson counties to maximize their use of the health care system. Of this population in rural Kentucky, 14-15% is 65 years or older (U.S. Bureau of Census, 2000). A higher incidence of chronic diseases, disabilities, difficulties with daily living activities, and cutbacks in social services have been identified as factors causing this population to …

Evaluation Report On Echo Funded Humanitarian Mine Action Pilot Projects In North-West Of Cambodia, Marcel Durocher, Agim Hoti, Mok Tonh, Keo Vut
Global CWD Repository
The European Commission Humanitarian Aid Office (ECHO) has been actively involved in mine action programs in Cambodia since 1996. ECHO recognized that there was a clear and urgent need to develop new approaches to address the needs of the most at risk communities. In mid 2002 it decided to fund three pilot initiatives with the objective of reducing mine/UXO risks and casualties in North Western Cambodia while taking into account the needs of local communities. This is an area, which recently witnessed a large influx of families from other parts of Cambodia. Many of these newcomers opted to take the …

Freedom & Secrecy: Trading Liberty For Security?, Andrus Center For Public Policy
Freedom & Secrecy: Trading Liberty For Security?, Andrus Center For Public Policy
Research and Reports
In the post-September 11th world, are Americans trading their liberty for their security? How does an open society reconcile the inevitable clash that occurs when our notions of freedom come into conflict with a government’s desire for secrecy? Those issues were the focus of a major conference on October 2, 2003 in Boise, sponsored jointly by the Andrus Center for Public Policy, the Frank Church Institute, and the Idaho Statesman. The day-long conference featured presentations from nationally-syndicated columnist David Broder, former Vice President Walter F. Mondale, and former U.S. Senator Slade Gorton. Also participating was a group of current and …
