Measurement Of Prompt Charm Meson Production Cross Sections In Pp̅ Collisions At √S=1.96 Tev, Darin Acosta, Kenneth A. Bloom, Collider Detector At Fermilab Collaboration

We report on measurements of differential cross sections d /dpT for prompt charm meson production in pp̅ collisions at √s=1.96 TeV using 5.8±0.3 pb^-1 of data from the CDF II detector at the Fermilab Tevatron. The data are collected with a new trigger that is sensitive to the long lifetime of hadrons containing heavy flavor. The charm meson cross sections are measured in the central rapidity region |y|≤1 in four fully reconstructed decay modes: D⁰→K^- π⁺, D*+→D⁰ π⁺, D⁺→K^- π⁺ π⁺, …

Collection Development Based On Patron Requests: Collaboration Between Interlibrary Loan And Acquisitions, Megan Allen, Suzanne M. Ward, Tanner Wray, Karl Debus-Lopez

Libraries Research Publications

Libraries are exploring new models of collaboration between interlibrary loan, collection development, and acquisitions. This paper presents two models in which libraries set aside acquisitions or other funds to purchase books requested by patrons through interlibrary loan processes. Workflows, scope criteria, and departmental relationships are described. The article reports on several aspects of the effectiveness of these models, such as turnaround time (comparable to traditional ILL loans), average cost per book ($37.00), and patron satisfaction (very high). The authors also address the subsequent circulation of titles and report on the bibliographers’ analysis of the relevance of the titles to the …

Lawrence University is among a group of colleges that was collectively cited in the December 15 issue of BusinessWeek for launching what the magazine hails as one of the best new products of 2003.
