The Dimensions Of Customer Satisfaction In The Financial Services Industry, Jose Salvador Lopez-Alarcon
Graduate Student Dissertations, Theses, Capstones, and Portfolios
The objective of this study was to collect and interpret data on the areas that influence customer satisfaction in the financial services industry. Specifically, the research defined and explored the ten dimensions that provide the customers with the product perceived value of the product or service. A survey of 230 customers in the Boca Raton area was conducted; data generated through the survey was analyzed descriptively, as well as subjected to regression analysis.
The study found congruence of customer satisfaction and the dimension: tangibles, reliability, responsiveness, competence, courtesy, credibility, safety, access, communication, and empathy. The study also determined that the …

Evidence Of An Association Among Age-Related Changes In Physical, Psychomotor And Autonomic Function, Robert H. Wood, Jan M. Hondzinski, C. Matthew Lee

Background: autonomic modulation of the heart, as measured by heart rate variability, is directly associated with cardiorespiratory fitness and inversely associated with all-cause mortality. The extent to which cardiorespiratory fitness and heart rate variability are related in older adults is difficult to ascertain due to difficulties in assessing physical fitness among older age groups. Objective: to examine heart rate variability and measures of physical function, thereby allowing for the inclusion of a greater cross-section of older adults than can be tested using traditional fitness tests. Methods: 39 older adults (mean age: 73.2±8.1 years; range=60-93 years) underwent evaluation of short-term (5 …
The Political Personality Of Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe, Aubrey Immelman, Adam Beatty
The Political Personality Of Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe, Aubrey Immelman, Adam Beatty
Psychology Faculty Publications
This paper presents the results of an indirect assessment of the personality of Zimbabwe’s President Robert Mugabe, from the conceptual perspective of Theodore Millon.
Psychodiagnostically relevant information regarding President Mugabe was extracted from biographical sources and media reports and synthesized into a personality profile using the second edition of the Millon Inventory of Diagnostic Criteria (MIDC), which yields 34 normal and maladaptive personality classifications congruent with Axis II of DSM–IV.
The personality profile yielded by the MIDC was analyzed on the basis of interpretive guidelines provided in the MIDC and Millon Index of Personality Styles manuals.
Mugabe’s primary personality …

Factless Jurisprudence, Darren Lenard Hutchinson

Professor Terry Smith has written a very important work on the inadequacy of juridical approaches to antidiscrimination law in the context of Title VII litigation. Smith argues that the anti-retaliation provisions of Title VII can serve more broadly as a mechanism for protecting workers of color from prohibited racial discrimination. Smith contends that contemporary equality jurisprudence, however, impedes the protective scope of the anti-retaliation provision because courts fail to appreciate the broader context of racial antagonism in which persons of color live. Particularly, courts often misinterpret lawful racial protest in the workplace as disruptive and appropriately regulated to the detriment …
Let's Put Ourselves Out Of Business: On Respect, Responsibility, And Dialogue In Dispute Resolution, Jonathan R. Cohen
Let's Put Ourselves Out Of Business: On Respect, Responsibility, And Dialogue In Dispute Resolution, Jonathan R. Cohen
UF Law Faculty Publications
This Essay works in two steps. I want to daydream with you about the future, or what I hope will someday be the future, of our dispute resolution movement. I want to then use these imaginings to reflect upon where we are today. I want to suggest something that may at first seem odd: Our ultimate goal should be to put ourselves, or virtually put ourselves, out of business. Eventually, I hope the time will come when we live in a society where the expert services of dispute resolution professionals, including not only lawyers and judges but also mediators and …

OBJECTIVE: We assessed the association between psychosocial stress and preinvasive cervical neoplasia development controlling for HR-HPV infection.
METHODS: This case-control study enrolled low-income women receiving family planning services at health department clinics. There were 59 cases with biopsy confirmed HSIL and 163 with low-grade SIL and 160 controls with normal cervical cytology. A modified SLE scale was used to measure stressful events and the perceived impact of the event in the prior 5 years. Unconditional logistic regression was used to assess SIL risk and stressful events scores and by subscales.
RESULTS: After adjusting for age, HR-HPV infection, and lifetime number …

The Conviction Of Andrea Yates: A Narrative Of Denial, Sherry F. Colb
The Conviction Of Andrea Yates: A Narrative Of Denial, Sherry F. Colb
Rutgers Law School (Newark) Faculty Papers
This piece discusses the case of Andrea Yates, the woman who confessed to drowning her five children to death and was subsequently convicted of murder (though the conviction has since been overturned). In this piece, Colb contends that Andrea Yates was convicted because of the jurors’ emotional/psychological response to the possibility that post-partum psychosis could cause an otherwise decent person to commit such brutal acts. As a symptom of denial, Colb argues, the jury rejected the insanity defense and thereby reassured itself that only evil people could do what Yates did. If that were the case, then it would be …

Children With Disturbances In Sensory Processing: A Pilot Study Examining The Role Of The Parasympathetic Nervous System., Roseann C. Schaaf, Lucy Jane Miller, Duncan Seawell, Shannon O'Keefe
Department of Occupational Therapy Faculty Papers
This study was a preliminary investigation of parasympathetic nervous system (PNS) functioning in children with disturbances in sensory processing. The specific aims of this study were to (1) provide preliminary data about group differences in parasympathetic functions, as measured by the vagal tone index, between children with disturbances in sensory processing and those without; (2) determine effect size and power needed for future studies; and (3) to lay the foundation for further examination of the relations of parasympathetic functioning and functional behavior in children with disturbances in sensory processing. Participants were 15 children, nine with disturbances in sensory processing and …

Searching For Legibility, Thomas R. Herzog, Olivia L. Leverich
Searching For Legibility, Thomas R. Herzog, Olivia L. Leverich
Peer Reviewed Articles
Legibility has been ineffective as a predictor of environmental preference primarily because of its correlation with another predictor, coherence. The authors tried to separate the two predictors by careful selection of field/forest settings and by using nontraditional definitions. The alternate definitions emphasized landmarks (for legibility) and the two-dimensional picture plane (for coherence). These strategies proved unsuccessful for the entire sample of settings. However, when an empirically derived subset of forest settingswas examined, the desired pattern of relations among the traditionally defined constructs was found: Legibility had a slightly stronger correlation with preference than coherence, and legibility was clearly the stronger …

Doing Rawls Justice: An Experimental Study Of Income Distribution Norms, Philip A. Michelbach, John T. Scott, Richard E. Matland, Brian H. Bornstein
Department of Psychology: Faculty Publications
Distributive justice has been the focus of political theory with the postwar rise of the social welfare state, and Rawls’ A Theory of Justice (1971) is arguably the most important work of political philosophy during that period. Parallel to this theoretical literature is a body of empirical research into distributive justice. We offer a synthesis of the theoretical and empirical approaches with an experimental study of how individuals use allocation principles in making judgments concerning income distribution under conditions of strict impartiality. Our experiment is designed in part to examine the extent to which they prioritize them consistent with Rawls’ …

This study investigated relations between 3 work-related stressors (role ambiguity, role conflict, and organizational constraints) and altruistic behavior in the workplace. It was predicted that each stressor would be negatively related to altruism and that these relations would be moderated by affective commitment (AC). Data from 144 incumbent-supervisor dyads revealed that all 3 stressors; were weakly and negatively related to altruism. Two of these relationships were moderated by AC, although not as predicted. Organizational constraints were positively related to altruism among those reporting high levels of AC but negatively related among those reporting low levels of AC. The pattern was …
Employee Perceptions Of Task And Work Posture Frequency In An Office Environment: The Accuracy Of Self Report, Kevin Ii Meredith
Employee Perceptions Of Task And Work Posture Frequency In An Office Environment: The Accuracy Of Self Report, Kevin Ii Meredith
Theses
The growth and expansion of the computers in the workplace have changed the way that people do work. In effort to minimize the number of work related musculoskeletal disorders, employee exposure to ergonomic risk factors has been number of assessment methods exist for collecting information regarding exposure to ergonomic risk factors in occupational settings. Establishing the validity of such methods is key to developing a greater understanding of the dose response relationship associated with ergonomic risk factors in the workplace. This research utilized work sampling techniques to determine the accuracy with which workers estimated task and work posture duration in …

Why Won't Someone Help Me? The Unspeakable Epidemic Of Domestic Violence: An Annotated Bibliography, Therese A. Clark Arado
Why Won't Someone Help Me? The Unspeakable Epidemic Of Domestic Violence: An Annotated Bibliography, Therese A. Clark Arado
Northern Illinois University Law Review
When I began working on this bibliography, I did not know what to expect. It was a new endeavor for me. An annotated bibliography on domestic violence seemed so straightforward. I soon learned just how mistaken I was in that belief. I have learned a great deal in this journey and during it have counted my blessings over and over again. Domestic violence is a legal issue, a social issue, an employment issue, and an international issue. It is an issue for the young, for the elderly, for lesbians, gay men and transgendered persons. It touches legal and illegal immigrants, …
