Gay Science As Law: An Outline For A Nietzschean Jurisprudence, Jonathan Yovel Jan 2003

Gay Science As Law: An Outline For A Nietzschean Jurisprudence, Jonathan Yovel

Cardozo Law Review

The main question examined in this study is not merely how a Nietzschean critique of law would look had Nietzsche ever applied his genealogical method to the question of law, but also what positive function Nietzschean philosophy may ascribe to law - and how law must then be transformed. The methodological parable imagines a "post-genealogy" or "post-ressentiment" phase of the human condition, akin to the Marxist "post-revolutionary" phase: How would law look for the person of power - overman or otherwise - who needs to live among others? How is normativity possible - what are its forms and …

There had been no early literacy intervention services offered in the writer’s school district prior to the time that the dissertation project was implemented. The goals of the dissertation were to decrease the likelihood that a kindergartner would repeat kindergarten or require remedial reading services in first grade due to the intervention services they received in kindergarten.

The writer designed an intervention program through which 15 kindergarten children were targeted for daily small group instruction …

This report examines research on reading techniques and the effects of early training on reading success.

Strategies included in this report are (a) early phonological awareness, (b) using both whole-language and skill-based instruction through a computerized program, (c) use of centers in the classroom, (d) peer …

Development Of Strategies To Increase The Enrollment And Retention Of Female Engineering Honor Students At Purdue University With A Plan For Evaluation And Implementation, Gayle E. Hartleroad

Abraham S. Fischler College of Education ETD Archive

The Purdue University Schools of Engineering committee, charged with development of a new strategic plan, set a recruitment and retention goal to “. . . increase the percentage of women undergraduates in engineering to 30 percent” (Purdue University Schools of Engineering Compton Committee, 2002).

A ten-year decline in female enrollment at Purdue University’s Schools of Engineering became a topic of true concern, especially to the Freshman Engineering Honors Program. This enrollment decline is exceedingly problematic because the Schools of Engineering has had a reputation of graduating a nationally known, large population of female engineers. The previously noted goal of 30% …

The administrators were concerned that these excessive discipline incidents were an indication of a lack of class management strategies displayed by the new teachers. Initial comparisons of student discipline data supported the existence of this problem. The block schedule implemented at Woodbridge High School magnified these discipline problems.

The writer utilized development methodology to produce and validated a supplemental new teacher induction process that attended to …

Woodland, a 3rd- and 4th-grade elementary school in Milford, Massachusetts, implemented a multiyear professional development program in order to improve student achievement in reading. The need for improvement became obvious after 3 years of low scores on the Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System tests and a failure to meet state expectations for the school. This project involved training all teachers to use the Case Study of an individual student to illustrate how to assess and guide reading instruction for all students in the classroom.

Every regular education teacher, special education teacher, bilingual teacher, English-as-a-second language teacher, and reading teacher selected a …

In May, 2001, the Institute of Research at Mohave Community College created a survey to determine both the importance and understanding of college policies. The survey, which was distributed to all full-time and part-time faculty, as well as to staff members, indicated a gap between the importance of college policies and the understanding of college policies. Ultimately, the results of the survey indicated a need for training in the areas concerning the sexual harassment policy, copyright laws, the intellectual property …
