La Propuesta Teatral De Los Teatros De Arte En España, Mar Rebollo Calzada

Teatro: Revista de Estudios Escénicos / A Journal of Theater Studies

The Teatros de arte appear in Spain in the twilights of the 19th century as an offer of artistic renovation against commercial theatre, following the model of Antoine. During the twenties, this model of theatre develops the most innovative productions headed by Martínez Sierra, Rivas Cherif, and groups as El Mirlo Blanco or Fantasio. The alternative answers to commercial theatre promoted new ways of stage management, interpretation and scenographic solutions, inaugurating a route towards the aesthetic change and the education of the public.

This article considers the relationship between culture, specifically the theatre, and the State during the Second Republic and analyses some of the work of certain writers who employed propagandistic theatre to fUrther their political aims. It examines the purpose, both political and artistic, of this theatre before going on to demonstrate how its reception by the state"s censors during the Second Republic and the early Civil War years mirrored the political changes and confusion of the period. Finally, some conclusions are drawn about the worth of this theatre, both as art and as social document.

In her paper, "From Plato to Derrida and Theories of Play," Simona Livescu proposes a reevaluation of the concept of play. By examining various critical interpretations of this term from Greek antiquity to modern structuralists and poststructuralist theories, Livescu analyzes the common denominator in philosophical, cultural, and religious facets of the play. In her discussion, Livescu emphasizes the ultimate importance of the ludic presence in every fundamental human action. This research investigation examined the influence of writing about the most meaningful life experience (MMLE) on the participants’ subjective weli-being (SWB) using a variation of Pennebaker’s expressive writing paradigm. Participants were 5:T undergraduate students enrolled at the University of North Dakota who were randomly assigned to one of two conditions (a) MMLE gu up: write about the MMLE, or (b) control topic: write about your plans for the day. Participants completed a consent form, demographic questionnaire, Nelson-Denny Reading Test (NDRT), Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS), and Positive Affect Negative Affect Scale (PmNAS). It is often said that U.S. legal culture discourages apologies. Defendants, defense counsel, and insurers worry that statements of apology will be admissible at trial and will be interpreted by jurors and judges as admissions of responsibility. In recent years, however, several legal commentators have suggested that disputants in civil lawsuits should be encouraged to apologize to opposing parties. They claim that apologies will avert lawsuits and promote settlement. Consistent with this view, legislatures in several states have enacted statutes that are intended to encourage and protect apologies by making them inadmissible. The postmodern critique has effectively called on anthropologists to reevaluate ethnographic authority when representing others. However, what is often found lacking in this criticism is an exploration of the ways in which audiences interpret anthropological knowledge. One crucial area that can be easily researched is audience reception of film in introductory anthropology classes. As professors of anthropology increasingly rely on film for illustrating anthropological concepts, we must have an understanding of how this medium is interpreted by student audiences. Molecular, Cellular & Biomedical Sciences

The matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) and their endogenous inhibitors, tissue inhibitors of metalloproteinases (TIMPs), may mediate the dramatic structural and functional changes in the corpus luteum (CL) over the course of its life span. In addition to regulating MMP activity, TIMPs are also involved in a variety of cellular processes, including cell proliferation and steroidogenesis. In a series of initial studies, we determined that matrix metalloproteinase inhibitory activity was present in protein extracts from early (4 days old, estrus = day 0), mid (10–12 days old) and late (16 days old) CL (n = 3 for each stage).
