Effects Of Light Scalar Mesons In Η\To 3Π Decay, Joseph Schechter, Abdou Abdel-Rehim, Deirdre Black, Amir H. Fariborz
Physics - All Scholarship
We study the role of a possible nonet of light scalar mesons in the still interesting \eta \to 3\pi decay process, with the primary motivation of learning more about the scalars themselves. The framework is a conventional non-linear chiral Lagrangian of pseudoscalars and vectors, extended to include the scalars. The parameters involving the scalars were previously obtained to fit the s-wave \pi\pi and \piK scatterings in the region up to about 1 GeV as well as the strong decay \eta' \to \eta \pi\pi. At first, one might expect a large enhancement from diagrams including a light \sigma(560). However there is …

Understanding And Managing Corn Yield Potential, Achim R. Dobermann, Timothy J. Arkebauer, Kenneth G. Cassman, J Lindquist, James E. Specht, Daniel T. Walters, Haishun Yang
Department of Agronomy and Horticulture: Faculty Publications
Rainfed and irrigated systems in which corn is grown either in rotation with soybean or as a continuous monocrop are the predominant cropping systems in North America. About 30 million ha of corn are harvested annually for grain in the USA, of which eleven states in the Corn Belt produce more than 210 million tons or 35% of the global corn supply (Dobermann and Cassman, 2002). During the past 35 years, average corn yields have increased linearly at a rate of 1.7 bu/acre per year (109 kg ha-1 per year, Fig. 1). Average corn yields now approach 140 bu/acre …

A Study Of 5-Aminolevulinic Acid And Its Methyl Ester Used In In Vitro And In Vivo Systems Of Human Bladder Cancer, Vanaja Manivasager, Paul Wan Sia Heng, Jinsong Hao, Wei Zheng, Khee Chee Soo, Malini Olivo
Pharmaceutical Science and Research
The use of 5-aminolevulinic acid and its esters to induce endogenous porphyrins for the purpose of detection of epithelial cancers is being studied extensively in many centres around the world. The challenge is to prepare an efficacious formulation for the purpose of cancer detection. Photodynamic diagnosis of cancer using 5-aminolevulinic acid (ALA) and its ester derivatives is being actively investigated. In this study, we compared ALA with ALA methyl ester (AME) derivative in terms of PpIX fluorescence intensity in in vitro and in vivo systems of bladder carcinoma. For the in vivo system consisting of RT112 xenografts, the modes of …

"Factory Outlet" Budaya Produksi Dan Produksi Budaya, Hianly Muljadi
Wacana, Journal of the Humanities of Indonesia
This article examines factory outlet as a cultural phenomenon in Indonesia. It specifically focuses in the shift in FO meanings. Through observation, bibliographic study and critical critique, it is shown that FO has been perceived differently from a place to get "branded products" for the lower middle class in order to increase their social status to a shopping heaven for the upper class

Ganti Nama Di Kalangan Keturunan Tionghoa Peraturan Dan Kebebasan, Irzanti Sutanto
Wacana, Journal of the Humanities of Indonesia
In 1966 New Order regime imposed a regulation that demands Indonesian citizens of Chinese descendants to change their name with "Indonesian name" to accelerate the process of assimilation "foreign descendents" into Indonesian society. This article examines this practice of changing names by surveying the name of Chinese in the obituary section of mass media. The writer argues that the regulation allows the Chinese descendants to change their names in any way they find appropriate. In doing to, it expands the anthrophoneme deixis function in Indonesia.
How Progressive Are The Dutch? On Language, Literature, And Gender Norms In The Netherlands, Marianne Vogel
How Progressive Are The Dutch? On Language, Literature, And Gender Norms In The Netherlands, Marianne Vogel
Wacana, Journal of the Humanities of Indonesia

Persepsi Kesatuan Tindak Tutur Memerintah Dalam Bahasa Indonesia, Ngusman Abdul Manaf
Wacana, Journal of the Humanities of Indonesia
This study discusses the relationship between indirect speech act and politeness in directive speech act. To get the data, questioners with personal information of respondents and nine directive speech acts which must be assessed by these Indonesian speakers in Jakarta are employed. The analysis shows that there is a positive correlation between the indirectness of a directive speech act and the degree of politeness. The more indirect a directive speech act, the more polite it is. Nevertheless, the correlation is not absolute. There are other parameters that determine the degree of politeness such as intonation, choice of words, and cultural …
