2001-2010

On the Green is an internal publication of Gallaudet College, which later became Gallaudet University. It notified employees of updates around the campus and in the broader community, including new construction and the establishment of new academic programs. Running until 2010, it was supplanted by various forms of online mass communications across multiple audiences.

Incorporation Of Polarization Into The Dirsig Synthetic Image Generation Model, Jason P. Meyers, John R. Schott, Scott D. Brown Nov 2002

Incorporation Of Polarization Into The Dirsig Synthetic Image Generation Model, Jason P. Meyers, John R. Schott, Scott D. Brown

Articles

The Digital Imaging and Remote Sensing Synthetic Image Generation (DIRSIG) model uses a quantitative first principles approach to generate synthetic hyperspectral imagery. This paper presents the methods used to add modeling of polarization phenomenology. The radiative transfer equations were modified to use Stokes vectors for the radiance values and Mueller matrices for the energy-matter interactions. The use of Stokes vectors enables a full polarimetric characterization of the illumination and sensor reaching radiances. The bi-directional reflectance distribution function (BRDF) module was rewritten and modularized to accommodate a variety of polarized and unpolarized BRDF models. Two new BRDF models based on Torrance- …

Elastic Ladar Modeling For Synthetic Imaging Applications, Robin R. Burton, John R. Schott, Scott D. Brown Nov 2002

Elastic Ladar Modeling For Synthetic Imaging Applications, Robin R. Burton, John R. Schott, Scott D. Brown

Articles

The Digital Imaging and Remote Sensing Image Generation (DIRSIG) model is a synthetic imagery generation model developed at the Center for Imaging Science (CIS) at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). It is a quantitative first principle based model that calculates the sensor reaching radiance from the visible through to the long wave infrared on a spectral basis. DIRSIG generates a very accurate representation of what a sensor would see by modeling all the processes involved in the imaging chain. Currently, DIRSIG only models passive sources such as the sun and blackbody radiation due to the temperature of an object. …

Modified Bell-Plesset Effect With Compressibility: Application To Double-Shell Ignition Target Designs, Peter A. Amendt, J. D. Colvin, John D. Ramshaw, H. F. Robey, O. L. Landen Nov 2002

Modified Bell-Plesset Effect With Compressibility: Application To Double-Shell Ignition Target Designs, Peter A. Amendt, J. D. Colvin, John D. Ramshaw, H. F. Robey, O. L. Landen

Physics Faculty Publications and Presentations

The effect of spherical convergence on the fluid stability of collapsing and expanding bubbles was originally treated by Bell [Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory Report No. LA-1321 (1951)] and Plesset [J. Appl. Phys. 25, 96 (1954)]. The additional effect of fluid compressibility was also considered by Bell but was limited to the case of nonzero density on only one side of a fluid interface. A more general extension is developed which considers distinct time-dependent uniform densities on both sides of an interface in a spherically converging geometry. A modified form of the velocity potential is used that avoids an unphysical divergence …

The Wooster Voice (Wooster, Oh), 2002-11-08, Wooster Voice Editors

The Voice: 2001-2011

This edition of the College of Wooster's student run newspaper, published on November 8 of 2002, is twelve pages long. Last Friday, the "Festival of Lights" or Diwali, was celebrated in Babcock. The assistant housing director position remains empty since Dustin Brentlinger resigned for another job in October. The college will receive an accreditation evaluation from November 11 to 13. The college has recently started broadcasting a program on a Wooster cable channel, it's called "Campus Close-Up." Chuck Wagers' article on the fourth page reviews and explains the changes made to the dining halls. One letter to the editor is …
