As can be said for many organizations, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) will have many issues to contend with in the 21' century. New rules and regulations have been implemented over the past 10 years among all three divisions. Different and similar issues face all universities and colleges holding membership in the Association, which is based in Indianapolis, Indiana. One of the major issues facing the NCAA is whether student-athletes should be paid for their services due to the commercialization that has taken place over the past 25 years.
All NCAA sponsored sports are amateur based. However, with many …

China’S Trade Opening: Implications For Regional Stability, Howard M. Krawitz
China’S Trade Opening: Implications For Regional Stability, Howard M. Krawitz
Strategic Forums
This paper examines the strategic implications of China’s accession to the World Trade Organization in late 2001 and assesses how the resulting opening of Chinese trade could influence regional stability and great-power relations. The author analyzes how China’s integration into the global trading system might shape its political, economic, military, and social development, affect its external behavior, and alter the strategic environment in East Asia and beyond. The paper explores how China’s trade policies interact with U.S. interests, regional economic linkages, and governance dynamics, and considers whether increased economic engagement will yield strategic moderation or introduce new competitive pressures.

Lawyers' Value In Mergers And Acquisitions Under The New World Of Multidisciplinary Practices, Yunling Wu
Lawyers' Value In Mergers And Acquisitions Under The New World Of Multidisciplinary Practices, Yunling Wu
LLM Theses and Essays
Lawyers are facing strong competition from accounting firms in mergers and acquisitions. Finance and accounting globalization and multidisciplinary practice makes accounting firms more competent, challenging lawyers’ value. However, lawyers create enormous value in mergers and acquisitions, such as structuring the form of transactions, managing due diligence investigation, reducing the costs of acquiring and verifying information, ensuring corporations follow the relevant regulations preventing legal liabilities, and preventing antitrust issues or invoking antitrust challenge. Teamwork will facilitate mergers and acquisitions transactions. Restricted multidisciplinary practice will not affect lawyers’ and accountants’ ethics and independence. Legal education should be improved to help lawyers become …
Global Trecs: The Regulation Of International Trade In Cyberspace, J. Steele
Global Trecs: The Regulation Of International Trade In Cyberspace, J. Steele
Canadian Journal of Law and Technology
This paper provides an overview of trade-related aspects of electronic commerce, and examines three approaches for regulating international trade in cyber- space. A model which integrates these approaches is then proposed, emphasizing private standards of self-regula- tion within a broader public framework of minimal background standards. A summary of potential areas of conflict between competing regulatory approaches fol- lows, and the paper concludes that both the WTO and the OECD have important roles to play in the develop- ment of international consensus towards a harmonized framework for the regulation of global TRECs.
