Application Of A Rational Model In Gis For Flood Risk Assessment In Accra, Ghana
Application Of A Rational Model In Gis For Flood Risk Assessment In Accra, Ghana
Journal of Spatial Hydrology
Accra has been experiencing periodic flooding that affect properties and lives. The government seeing the dangers involved has commissioned institutions such as Ministry of Works and Housing, Town and Country Planning and City Engineers to identify flood risk zones and adapt measures that will help reduce flood damages. These institutions identify flood risk zones using conventional methods such as watermarks on buildings and reported cases in the news media. Works carried out by these agencies were not able to give details about potential areas that are likely to experience this extreme event. Hence there was the need to find a …
Introduction To Erasing Lines: Integrating The Law School Curriculum, Amy E. Sloan
Introduction To Erasing Lines: Integrating The Law School Curriculum, Amy E. Sloan
All Faculty Scholarship
Our goal at this conference is to begin the process of erasing the often artificial lines that presently exist between "doctrinal" and "skills" courses, between education focused on the acquisition of knowledge and education focused on the practical application of that knowledge. The lines that have been drawn are more a matter of perception than reality. If we were to deconstruct the pedagogical goals in both of these types of courses, we would find that they have as many similarities as they have differences.

Making A Business Case For Integrating Multidimensional Sustainability In The Pharmaceutical Industry, Thea Jung
Theses
To grow their bottom lines, companies invest in business value drivers. This thesis examined whether multidimensional sustainability performance could be one of those drivers in the pharmaceutical industry. There are currently very few (if any) mandatory requirements for integrating multidimensional sustainability. Nor are there standardized methods of integrating, measuring, or communicating multidimensional sustainability. This thesis reviewed, compared, and contrasted (also known as benchmarking) voluntary sustainability initiatives and pharmaceutical company sustainability initiatives. The results were as follows: 1) the concept of multidimensional sustainability is generally understood; 2) integrating multidimensional sustainability is the morally and ethically correct action for pharmaceutical companies to …
Conflict, Political Structure And Economic Growth In Dual-Population Lands, Amnon Levy, J. R. Faria
Conflict, Political Structure And Economic Growth In Dual-Population Lands, Amnon Levy, J. R. Faria
Faculty of Business - Economics Working Papers
The optimal consumption growth rate for a group in a strictly political federation in a dual-population land is lower than that under partition if the group is wealthier and has a lower population growth rate than its counterpart. Even in such circumstances the group may economically benefit from joining a federation that facilitates technological transfer as long as the group’s initial technology is inferior to the hybrid. The group’s optimal consumption growth rate during a civil war is larger than those under partition and a strictly political federation if its rival’s warfare is mainly aimed at inflicting casualties.

Essays On International Trade And Bayesian Forecasting, Dennis S. Edwards
LSU Doctoral Dissertations
Economic theory is subject to continual analysis. While theories themselves are sometimes widely accepted, nuances of theory are persistently scrutinized. Researchers have not isolated this debate from a simply theoretic standpoint. Empirical methods in microeconomics also provide a forum for disagreement. This dissertation studies two topics of microeconomic theory that are constantly in debate: integration and cost function estimation. From the standpoint of theoretical integration models in international trade theory, the concept of foreign direct investment is studied in both a horizontal and vertical setting. With respect to horizontal integration, this dissertation modifies the Brander-Krugman reciprocal dumping model to evaluate …
