The nuclear power plants are significant source of the equipment contamination by radioactive particles. Versatile equipment is used during plant operation and/or maintenance and is contaminated while performing required operations. Usually, the decontamination of used equipment is performed but in many cases the residual level of contamination is still higher than allowed for unconditional release. The usual routine is to apply the same equipment for the maintenance works of other nuclear power plants. This paper explores the possibility of INA brand motor oil packaging system optimization. Research has been conducted in order to recognize the typical failure pattern of one-liter motor oil container, according to ASTM D2659-84. The findings of this study identify an opportunity for improvement in primary package design, as well as an overall reduction in expenditure for motor oils packaging as a function of improved distribution process. Based on significant cost savings achieved by packaging system optimization, this project study recommends implementation of the project at INA Maziva Rijeka.

As the environmental technology aspects of hazardous waste remediation projects are becoming more innovative, the occupational health and safety aspects associated with these projects have not kept pace. This study was designed to examine a single, long-term remediation project's experiences with this dilemma. The purpose of this research is to study quantitatively edge enhancement effects of different digital halftone algorithms, especially on Error diffusion and Linear Pixel Shuffling algorithms. It has been known that by changing the amount of error and the spread of error when processing original images, different edge enhancement effects are observed. An automotive lambda oxygen sensor is formed by electroless plating of a thin, catalytically active, conductive electrode uniformly on the outer surface of a zirconia thimble. The process includes forming a pristine zirconia solid electrolyte thimble and drilling out a cylindrical cavity in it. A porous outer surface suitable for producing crystallization sites is formed by dipping the unfired thimble in a zirconia slurry containing spray-dried microspheres and firing the coated thimble to densify the thimble and the microspheres and to produce cavities on the surface of the thimble. A lubricant for use in lubricating the shot sleeve of a machine for die casting molten metals is in the form of agglomerated particles. The particles have an inorganic high pressure lubricant agglomerated, with a binder material and with an organic material. The solid lubricant is resistant to dusting, caking and breakage, can be fed through an automatic dispensing machine, and combines inorganic and organic materials to achieve excellent lubrication properties. The product has low flash and low smoke release into the environment.

Airfoil characteristics measured in a wind tunnel typically differ from those obtained in free air due to the confinement of airflow in tunnel test sections and the development of boundary layer on tunnel walls. Wind tunnel measured quantities, e.g. Mach number, Reynolds number, angle of attack, require corrections to determine their equivalent values in free air. TWNTN4A is a correction program capable of correcting wall interference effects in 2-D wind tunnels. This study analyzes the effectiveness of a network of five regional organizations to promote economic development in Hampton Roads, Virginia. Using a case study methodology, data collected from organizational documents, media reports, and personal interviews was categorized and triangulated to determine how many regional economic proposals were implemented from 1990 to 2000. This analysis created a regional timeline from which was produced a regional inventory of economic proposals. This study concluded that the regional economic development organizations in Hampton Roads have a fragmented network and their output has been influenced by regional factors.

Numerous studies have underscored the strong contributions families make to their children's academic achievement (e.g., Christenson & Buerkle, 1999; Conoley, 1987; Henderson & Berla, 1994). The purpose of the study was to examine the influence of parental involvement and the relationship between family-process and status variables and their impact on student academic achievement. Results indicated when parents and schools establish collaborations and work in conjunction to encourage learning, student academic achievement is enhanced. Furthermore, non-cognitive behavior such as attitudes about school, maturation, self-concept, and behavior are enhanced when parents/families are more involved.
