Israel's corresponding relief agency, the Mogen David Adom, has provided emergency services to countries all over the world since 1939, and it meets or surpasses every other standard for IFRC membership. Yet Israel remains the only nation left out of the 178- country federation. Why?

An IFRC spokesman says that it is "governments, not the federation, that give emblems the protective force of international law," and that "governments" are preparing to adopt an additional emblem, with no religious or national connotations, to stand alongside the Red Cross and the Red Crescent, one that Israel could adopt as its own.

An electrostatic separation apparatus includes of a plurality of separators is provided for separating a particle mixture into two constituent species. Each separator includes one and preferably a plurality of modular separation stages. Each stage of the separator includes a pair of separation subchambers each having an electric field zone for drawing selected charged particles from the particle mixture. A curtain gas flow is provided for each subchamber to entrain and carry the selected charged particles drawn from the particle mixture in the electric field zone to a collector associated with each subchamber for recovery. Liquid Sprays As The Target For A Laser-Plasma Euv Light Source, Roy Mcgregor, Rocco Orsini, Michael Petach

UCF Patents

A laser-plasma EUV radiation source that generates larger liquid droplets for the plasma target material. The EUV source forces a liquid, preferably Xenon, through a nozzle, instead of forcing a gas through the nozzle. The geometry of the nozzle and the pressure of the liquid through the nozzle atomizes the liquid to form a dense spray of droplets. Because the droplets are formed from a liquid, they are larger in size, and are more conducive to generating EUV radiation. A condenser is used to convert gaseous Xenon to the liquid prior to being forced through the nozzle.

Spontaneous symmetry breaking usually occurs due to the tachyonic (spinodal) instability of a scalar field near the top of its effective potential at φ=0. Naively, one might expect the field φ to fall from the top of the effective potential and then experience a long stage of oscillations with amplitude O(v) near the minimum of the effective potential at φ=v until it gives its energy to particles produced during these oscillations. However, it was recently found that the tachyonic instability rapidly converts most of the potential energy V(0) into the energy of colliding classical waves of the scalar field. This …

Analysis Of Unsolicited, Non-Paradigmatic Letters To An Organization As A Communicative Genre, Todd E. Conklin

The present study sought to discover and investigate a unique category of unsolicited, non-paradigmatic letters received by organizations, particularly those with high visibility or whose purposes are controversial. To accomplish this objective, the present study used the rhetorical method of generic analysis, to study 30 unsolicited letters sent to Los Alamos National Laboratory during the years 1999-2000. Generic analysis provides information about the worldview and strategies employed by the letter writer and the parameters within the rhetorical transaction and delivery of his or her message.
