Knowledge Management Technology: Will There Be A Second Chance?, Roger A. Lohmann Nov 2001

Knowledge Management Technology: Will There Be A Second Chance?, Roger A. Lohmann

Faculty & Staff Scholarship

Since its creation in 1989, ARNOVA has grown from a 2-day annual conference to a year-round functioning organization that is one of the major contributors to the third sector/civil society paradigm. Online knowledge management and infomatics are one of the major concerns. The concern here is with a few technical aspects of the role of the association in the production, dissemination and application of knowledge about the third sector the flow of scholarly documents generated by ARNOVA members primarily for the use of other members. The challenge today, as it has been in the past, is how to structure a …

Non-Target Impacts Of Strychnine Baiting To Reduce Pocket Gopher Populations On Forest Lands In The United States, Dale L. Nolte, Kimberly Wagner Nov 2001

Non-Target Impacts Of Strychnine Baiting To Reduce Pocket Gopher Populations On Forest Lands In The United States, Dale L. Nolte, Kimberly Wagner

United States Department of Agriculture Wildlife Services: Staff Publications

Reforestation efforts are often severely hindered on sites that contain high populations of pocket gophers (Thmmysspp). Strychnine baiting is a technique used to suppress pocket gopher populations until seedlings are established. Strychnine bait is applied below ground in pocket gopher burrows, however, primary and secondary hazards remain a concern. A study to assess primary hazards indicated that some individual rodents died post strychnine baiting but there was not a long-term negative impact on non-target rodent populations. Possible secondary hazards reflect the potential for predators OT scavengers to encounter poisoned pocket gophers. Concerns that pocket gophers may surface before …

The Anchor, Volume 115.12: November 28, 2001, Hope College

The Anchor: 2001

The Anchor began in 1887 and was first issued weekly in 1914. Covering national and campus news alike, Hope College’s student-run newspaper has grown over the years to encompass over two-dozen editors, reporters, and staff. For much of The Anchor's history, the latest issue was distributed across campus each Wednesday throughout the academic school year (with few exceptions). In recent years The Anchor moved to monthly print issues and a more frequently updated website. The Anchor is now published in print twice per academic semester. Occasionally, the volume and/or issue numbering is irregular.

Studies On The Anti-Corrosion Behavior Of Corrosion Inhibitor To The Ship Building Steel In Moist Air, Yong-Tao Zhao, Jian-Hua Wu, Jia Wang Nov 2001

Studies On The Anti-Corrosion Behavior Of Corrosion Inhibitor To The Ship Building Steel In Moist Air, Yong-Tao Zhao, Jian-Hua Wu, Jia Wang

Journal of Electrochemistry

The anti corrosion behavior of 907A steel, which were covered with thin inibitor layers in moist air, were simulated, The electrochemical measurements, including EIS method and the coulostatic method, were used to atmospheric corrosion monitor (ACM) under thin inhibitor layers to study the mechanism of rust preventiion. the results shown that the mechanism of inhibiting corrosion was different from the steel immersed in inhibitor solutin, the anodic reaction process under thin inhibitor layers had the advantage over that of cathodic for blocking the speed of corrosion. At the later stage of soaking, the blend feature due to the electrochemical process …

The Investigation Of Prepare Condition For Micropores Membranes From Poly(Vinylidene Fluoride), Xu-Mei Ren, Feng Wu, Ying Bai, Hang-Jun Li, Xue-Jie Huang Nov 2001

The Investigation Of Prepare Condition For Micropores Membranes From Poly(Vinylidene Fluoride), Xu-Mei Ren, Feng Wu, Ying Bai, Hang-Jun Li, Xue-Jie Huang

Journal of Electrochemistry

The micropores membranes from Poly (vinylidene fluoride) were prepared by the phase inversion process. The effects of the casting solution composition, exposure time prior to coagulation and temperature of the coagulation bath on properties of prepared membranes were investigated. For all prepared membranes an asymmetric structure, sometimes without a dense skin layer, was observed.

Studies On The Properties Of The Anodic Films Formed On Lead- Lanthanum And Lead-Samarium Alloys In Sulfuric Acid Solution, Hou-Tian Liu, Chun-Xuao Yang, Hai-Heng Liang, Jiong Yang, Wei-Fang Zhou Nov 2001

Studies On The Properties Of The Anodic Films Formed On Lead- Lanthanum And Lead-Samarium Alloys In Sulfuric Acid Solution, Hou-Tian Liu, Chun-Xuao Yang, Hai-Heng Liang, Jiong Yang, Wei-Fang Zhou

Journal of Electrochemistry

AC voltammetry, linear sweep voltammetry, and cyclic voltammetry were applied to study the anodic corrosion of Pb, Pb-1.0 at% La and Pb-1.0 at% Sm electrodes in 4.5 mol·dm-3 H2SO4 solution (25 ℃). The experiment results show that samarium can inhibit the anodic corrosion of lead and decrease the impedance of anodic Pb(Ⅱ) film. Lanthanum can also decrease the impedance of the anodic Pb(Ⅱ)film, but the effect is smaller.

Building An Interpretive Repertoire In The Visual Arts: An Examination Of Cultural Values In The Art Of Richard Hamilton, Rosalie Politsky Nov 2001

Building An Interpretive Repertoire In The Visual Arts: An Examination Of Cultural Values In The Art Of Richard Hamilton, Rosalie Politsky

ICS Fellow Lectures

Artists and educators struggle to deal effectively with modern and postmodern theory. Indeed, the proliferation of interpretive theory in past decades has made investigations into the visual arts problematic. Contemporary interpretive theories are not only dense and philosophically challenging, but their scope and complexity may overwhelm those who wish to apply these theories in practical, progressive ways.

The Research Of Organic Electrolyte Solutions For Li-Ion Batteries, Quang-Chao Zhuang, Shan Wu, Wen-Yuan Liu, Zhao-Da Lu Nov 2001

The Research Of Organic Electrolyte Solutions For Li-Ion Batteries, Quang-Chao Zhuang, Shan Wu, Wen-Yuan Liu, Zhao-Da Lu

Journal of Electrochemistry

The characteristics of organic electrolyte solutions and its influences on the ion conductivity are summarized. The chemistry and electrochemistry of organic electrolyte solutions and characteristics of ordinary organic solvents are introduced. Progresses in studies of organic electrolyte solutions such as electrolyte salts, organic solvents, additives in recent years are reviewed, current situation of the studies of organic electrolyte solutions were also discussed.
