The Effects Of Conjoint Behavioral Consultation: Results Of A 4-Year Investigation, Susan M. Sheridan, John W. Eagle, Richard J. Cowan, William Mickelson

Department of Educational Psychology: Faculty Publications

Conjoint behavioral consultation (CBC) is a structured indirect form of service delivery in which parents, teachers, and other support staff are joined to work together to address the academic, social, or behavioral needs of an individual for whom all parties bear some responsibility. In this article, outcome data from 4 years of federally funded projects in the area of CBC are presented. Thirty graduate students were trained in CBC and were responsible for providing consultation services to parents and teachers of students with disabilities or at risk for academic failure. Consultation clients included 52 students with disabilities such as behavior …

Requirements For Education Meterial In Color Reproduction For Photojournalists, Gregory Kimmich Nov 2001

Requirements For Education Meterial In Color Reproduction For Photojournalists, Gregory Kimmich

Theses

This thesis project examines a skills gap involving new technologies within photographic departments of many newspaper organizations. Traditional film based photography is now used in conjunction with digital photography. After images are acquired, photojournalists create electronic color separations within color imaging software. Quite often these separations are created without an understanding of the rules and concepts that govern quality color reproduction in newsprint. As advancements continue in digital imaging and prepress environments, skills must be acquired to ensure optimum color reproduction. This thesis project examines the educational theories of Walter Dick, Lou Carey and Charles Layne as they relate to …

Information Technology And The Goals Of Standards-Based Instruction: Advances And Continuing Challenges, Douglas A. Archbald

Education Policy Analysis Archives (EPAA)

This article examines goals of standards-based reform in education and ways in which developments in information technology have facilitated those goals. Since standards-based reform is a rather general concept, I begin by developing a more specific formulation which I refer to as the “standards-based instruction and assessment” model. ...

The Holocaust, Gulag, And Sociology: Why Is There Less Scholarly Interest In The Soviet Repressive System?, Rachel Schroeder Nov 2001

The Holocaust, Gulag, And Sociology: Why Is There Less Scholarly Interest In The Soviet Repressive System?, Rachel Schroeder

Honors Theses

The Soviet Gulag and the Holocaust are two formative events that claimed millions of victims in the twentieth century; however, the Gulag has received markedly less interest from scholars. Why does such a major discrepancy exist in the amount of attention that is focused on the Gulag as compared to the Holocaust? This paper offers a response to the above question. It explores the scale and dimensions of the discrepancy through a comparative analysis of a Gulag bibliography and a Holocaust bibliography. The paper also offers a response to the question of why the discrepancy exists by inquiring into the …

Novel Field Sampling Procedure For The Determination Of Methiocarb Residues In Surface Waters From Rice Fields, Thomas M. Primus, Dennis J. Kohler, Mike Avery, Pat Bolich, M.O. Way, John J. Johnston Nov 2001

Novel Field Sampling Procedure For The Determination Of Methiocarb Residues In Surface Waters From Rice Fields, Thomas M. Primus, Dennis J. Kohler, Mike Avery, Pat Bolich, M.O. Way, John J. Johnston

United States Department of Agriculture Wildlife Services: Staff Publications

Methiocarb was extracted from surface water samples collected at experimental rice field sites in Louisiana and Texas. The sampling system consisted of a single-stage 90-mm Empore extraction disk unit equipped with a battery-powered vacuum pump. After extraction, the C-18 extraction disks were stored in an inert atmosphere at -10 °C and shipped overnight to the laboratory. The disks were extracted with methanol and the extracts analyzed by reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography with a methanol/water mobile phase. Methiocarb was detected by ultraviolet absorption at 223 nm and quantified with the use of calibration standards. Recoveries from control surface water samples fortified …

Sulfur Dioxide Uptake And Oxidation In Sea-Salt Aerosol, William Hoppel, Louise Pasternack, Peter F. Caffrey, Glendon Frick, James Fitzgerald, Dean A. Hegg, Song Gao, John Ambrusko, Thomas Albrechcinski Nov 2001

Sulfur Dioxide Uptake And Oxidation In Sea-Salt Aerosol, William Hoppel, Louise Pasternack, Peter F. Caffrey, Glendon Frick, James Fitzgerald, Dean A. Hegg, Song Gao, John Ambrusko, Thomas Albrechcinski

Chemistry and Physics Faculty Articles

Measurements of SO2 and O3 uptake by sea-salt and NaCl aerosol were made in a 600 m3environmental chamber by measuring the rate of SO2 and O3 depletion during nebulization of seawater and NaCl solutions. The experiments were carried out with starting relative humidity between 80% and 92%, with SO2 concentrations between 35 and 60 ppb, and ozone concentrations between O and 110 ppb. For NaCl, no SO2 or O3uptake was observed. For sea-salt aerosol, uptake in the range of 0.21 and 1.2 millimoles of S per liter of (nebulized) seawater …

Experimental And Modeling Studies Of Secondary Organic Aerosol Formation And Some Applications To The Marine Boundary Layer, Song Gao, Dean A. Hegg, Glendon Frick, Peter F. Caffrey, Louise Pasternack, Chris Cantrell, William Sullivan, John Ambrusko, Thomas Albrechcinski, Thomas W. Kirchstetter Nov 2001

Experimental And Modeling Studies Of Secondary Organic Aerosol Formation And Some Applications To The Marine Boundary Layer, Song Gao, Dean A. Hegg, Glendon Frick, Peter F. Caffrey, Louise Pasternack, Chris Cantrell, William Sullivan, John Ambrusko, Thomas Albrechcinski, Thomas W. Kirchstetter

Chemistry and Physics Faculty Articles

A series of controlled experiments were carried out in the Calspan Corporation's 600 m3environmental chamber to study some secondary organic aerosol formation processes. Three precursor-ozone systems were studied: cyclopentene-ozone, cyclohexene-ozone, and α-pineneozone. Additionally, SO2 was added to the initial gas mixture in several instances and was likely present at trace levels in the ostensibly organic-only experiments. It was found that all three systems readily formed new submicron aerosols at very low reactant levels. The chemical composition of formed aerosols was consistent with some previous studies, but the yields of organic products were found to be lower in …
