This article explores the potential that mediation offers to women as a forum to tell their stories in their own voices. Part I explains the process of mediation. Part II examines the interplay of law, mediation and women, suggesting that the adversarial system has failed to acknowledge women and neglected to hear their voices or listen to their stories. This section also investigates the role of mediation within the legal system and the dangers adherent in that position. Part III introduces feminism and feminist jurisprudence. Automated Giemsa-banded chromosome image research has been largely restricted to classification schemes associated with isolated chromosomes within metaphase spreads. In normal human metaphase spreads, there are 46 chromosomes occurring in homologous pairs for the autosomal classes 1-22 and the X chromosome for females. Many genetic abnormalities are directly linked to structural and/or numerical aberrations of chromosomes within metaphase spreads. Cells with the Philadelphia chromosome contain an abnormal chromosome for class 9 and for class 22, leaving a single normal chromosome for each class. A data-driven homologue matching technique is applied to recognizing normal chromosomes from classes 9 and 22. Homologue …

However, caution should be taken to not overlook the rich resource available through interactions with senior citizens. According to the Census Bureau "middle series" projections, the elderly population will more than double between now and the year 2050, to 80 miUion. The numerical solution of an n-th order differential equation relies on an accurate approximation of the derivative. A standard method of approximating the derivative of a real-valued function f at a point Xo is to use the central difference formula f ' (xo) 􁪽 [f (x, + h) - f (x, - h)] / 2h . An error analysis of this formula shows that the truncation error is 0(h2) while the round off error is 0(h-1). A major dilemma in using this formula is the fact that using a small h increases the round off error. In this thesis, a …

We investigated how constant temperatures of 22, 24, and 26 degreesC experienced across the full life cycle affected the dynamics of caged populations of Aedes albopictus (Skuse). All cages were equipped with plastic beakers that served as sites for oviposition and larval development. We measured the per capita daily mortality and emergence rates of the adults and size of adult females, and estimated the intrinsic rate of increase (r) and asymptotic density (K) for each adult population. populations at 26 degreesC had greater intrinsic rates of increase and lower asymptotic densities than populations at 22 and 24 degreesC. When people make moral or legal judgments in isolation, they produce a pattern of outcomes that they would themselves reject, if only they could see that pattern as a whole. A major reason is that human thinking is category-bound. When people see a case in isolation, they spontaneously compare it to other cases that are mainly drawn from the same category of harms. When people are required to compare cases that involve different kinds of harms, judgments that appear sensible when the problems are considered separately often appear incoherent and arbitrary in the broader context. In particular, scientists now recognize that regular satellite monitoring of the timing and length of the terrestrial growing season is a valuable metric of biospheric responses to short- and long-term climate variability. A study of the macrobenthic communities of the Elizabeth River watershed was initiated in summer 1999. This report presents the data from the second year of sampling in 2000. The three objectives of the Benthic Biological Monitoring Program of the Elizabeth River watershed are: (1) To characterize the health of the tidal waters of the Elizabeth River watershed as indicated by the structure of the benthic communities. Strategic Forums

During the Cold War, strategic capabilities were synonymous with nuclear capabilities, and U.S. strategic planning focused on nuclear deterrence and response against a single adversary. Today, more potential enemies are developing asymmetric capabilities to inhibit or prevent U.S. military intervention in regional conflicts— in short, to wage strategic warfare by implicitly or explicitly threatening highvalue political, military, or economic targets with weapons of mass destruction and disruption. U.S. security over the next several decades will depend increasingly on the ability to deter and respond effectively to strategic regional conflicts with significant escalation potential.
