Service learning and online instruction are both important and much debated topics in higher education. Many professors and colleges are attempting to use service learning and online instruction as effective learning tools for their student clientele. Both topics are being written about exclusively in professional journals, as educators grapple with how lo implement these two effective means of learning into class content. The purpose of this manuscript is to discuss service learning and online instruction in a symbiotic educational relationship. This study was designed to explore the influences, experiences, and disparate life choices of eight African American males from the Jacksonville's Pre-trial Detention Center and the U.S. Navy. The focus of this project was on the choices made by the participants and possible reasons for those choices. Specifically, the research question for this study is "How do some African American males from Jacksonville's Pre-trial Detention Center and the Navy describe their life experiences and the influences of these experiences on their choices?''

An Investigation Of Tourist Involvement On International Tour Type Choices, Tsung-Chiung Wu

Visions in Leisure and Business

Involvement theory derived from social judgment theory has raised great research interests for leisure scholars since 1990s. The study issues for leisure involvement range from its conceptualization, measurement, antecedent and consequence factors, building causal relations, testing variations of leisure involvement among different recreation activities, and management and marketing applications. Although several inconclusive arguments exist, leisure involvement theory provides solid bases to explain leisure participation behavior, especially in the cases of participation patterns, message processing, and decision-making patterns.

There has been lots of issues raised about athletes retirement in Malaysia but no research has been conducted on this matter yet. The aim of the study was to explore, determine and describe the experiences of retired Malaysian elite athletes as they faced the twilight of their sport careers and moved to a new and different stage in life. Terry Orlick's EARIS- Questionnaire was used to conduct in-depth interviews with 51 Malaysian elite athletes ( 34 males and 17 females) who had retired from competitive sports. Australian Football and sport in general is a large part of the Australian culture. In the past men have dominated most aspects of sport as participants, spectators and administrators. Women have fulfilled a submissive role supporting men's sporting pursuits. However, the role of women is more significant and football clubs are recognising the importance of this membership segment by creating clubs within clubs to cater for the needs of female members. Flow In Golf: Motivation, Goal Orientation, And Challenge Determinant., Sei-Yi Oh

The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between variables which were intrinsic motivation; goal orientation; skill level; challenge level; side-bets and flow experiences. The data were collected from golfers playing three different golf courses who volunteered to participate in this study. Ninety-one out of 117 participants answered all seven parts of questionnaires. The results of the multiple regression analysis were based on the ninety-one participants' questionnaires. Five hypotheses were addressed. The first hypothesis was that golfers who are more intrinsically motivated will experience higher levels of flow. The result of multiple regression analysis support hypothesis 1. The …

Despite the pervasiveness of sports in American society and the ever-increasing role of sponsorship in the marketing mix, sponsorship marketing as a discipline currently lacks the rigorous academic study and theoretical foundations that exist in other marketing disciplines. The purpose of this study is to determine whether or not sponsorship of New Orleans Zephyrs baseball is an effective way of increasing awareness of a product or brand. Using intermediate measures of recognition testing, fans at three New Orleans Zephyrs games were surveyed to test sponsor recognition.
