Method Of Creating Ultra-Fine Particles Of Materials Using A High-Pressure Mill, Marian Mazurkiewicz Jan 2001

Method Of Creating Ultra-Fine Particles Of Materials Using A High-Pressure Mill, Marian Mazurkiewicz

Mining Engineering Faculty Research & Creative Works

A method for creating ultra-fine particles of material using a high-pressure mill is described. The method includes placing a material in a first chamber and subjecting the material to a high-pressure liquid jet to divide it into particles. These particles are then transferred to a second chamber in which they are subjected to cavitation to further divide the particles into relatively smaller particles. These relatively smaller particles are then transferred to a third chamber, in which the particles collide with a collider to still further divide them into ultra-fine particles of the material. The mill of the present invention includes …

Mary Mccarthy Writes Her Truth: Memories Of A Catholic Girlhood And The Expansion Of The Autobiographical Tradition, Roxanne H. Hughes Jan 2001

Mary Mccarthy Writes Her Truth: Memories Of A Catholic Girlhood And The Expansion Of The Autobiographical Tradition, Roxanne H. Hughes

Dissertations and Theses @ UNI

Modernist and postmodernist writer Mary McCarthy was a unique feminist writer. Throughout her writing career, which spanned nearly fifty years, McCarthy authored three autobiographical volumes, nine volumes of fiction, two books about art, and numerous essays and reviews. Regardless of the critical response to her writing, McCarthy wrote her truth her way. McCarthy did not capitulate to traditional patriarchal notions of autobiographical content and form; rather, she challenged patriarchal autobiographical traditions in her texts. This thesis examines McCarthy's first autobiographical volume, the 1957 Memories of a Catholic Girlhood, which describes McCarthy's orphanhood in post-World War I America. The introductory chapter …

Analysis Of Foreclosure In The Ec Guidelines On Vertical Restraints, Steven C. Salop Jan 2001

Analysis Of Foreclosure In The Ec Guidelines On Vertical Restraints, Steven C. Salop

Georgetown Law Faculty Publications and Other Works

The antitrust treatment of vertical restraints is quite controversial. In the United States, for example, warring vertical restraints guidelines were issued by the Department of Justice and National Association of Attorneys General, a group of antitrust enforcers from the individual states. However, a consensus was never achieved and these guidelines never entered the mainstream. Compare them to the U.S. Horizontal Merger Guidelines, which have become a template for evaluation of horizontal restraints.

The new EC Guidelines on Vertical Restraints Guidelines ("GVRs") represent a significant effort to create and implement a consistent analytic framework for evaluating vertical restraints. The scope of …

Constitutional Migration And The Bounds Of Comparative Analysis, Michel Rosenfeld Jan 2001

Constitutional Migration And The Bounds Of Comparative Analysis, Michel Rosenfeld

Articles

The article explores the complexities and challenges of comparative constitutional analysis, highlighting how constitutional ideas and norms migrate across nations. It emphasizes that while such analysis is necessary and can provide valuable insights, it must be approached with caution, considering the unique cultural, historical, and political contexts of each country. The author argues that foreign constitutional materials can influence domestic law both directly and indirectly, but their application must account for contextual differences to avoid misinterpretation or misuse.

Part 1: Economic Performance And Per Capita Income: The Inside Story, Regional Studies Institute, Old Dominion University Jan 2001

Part 1: Economic Performance And Per Capita Income: The Inside Story, Regional Studies Institute, Old Dominion University

State of the Region Reports: Hampton Roads

It’s true the region’s per capita income trails national averages, but much of the gap between Hampton Roads and the nation disappears when cost of living differentials are taken into account. Further, the region’s per capita income gap may not be due so much to lagging wage rates, but rather to much lower levels of business income and wealth for Hampton Roads as compared to other regions.

Comparison Of Reading Levels Of Students In A Computer Assisted Instructional Reading Program To Students In A Traditional Reading Program, Raquel Chin Jan 2001

Comparison Of Reading Levels Of Students In A Computer Assisted Instructional Reading Program To Students In A Traditional Reading Program, Raquel Chin

Abraham S. Fischler College of Education ETD Archive

The problem for this study was no available data documenting the impact of the computer assisted instruction (CAI) program on the reading levels of students in Pines Middle School's eighth grade reading program. Previous studies have suggested that students in CAI reading programs do increase their reading levels.

The research question for this study was "Will students participating in the computer assisted instruction reading program achieve significantly higher reading levels, as determined by the STAR assessment, than students instructed in the traditional reading program?" The quasi-experimental research methodology was applied because the investigator compared treatment effects in a setting that …

Laboratory Denitrification Using Sediments From The Elk Valley Aquifer, Alison E. Kammer Jan 2001

Laboratory Denitrification Using Sediments From The Elk Valley Aquifer, Alison E. Kammer

Theses and Dissertations

An experiment was conducted to determine if a decrease in the content of sulfides related to denitrification could be measured in the laboratory using sediments of the Elk Valley Aquifer in eastern North Dakota. The experiment entailed analyzing sediments for sulfides and solid organic carbon and isolating them in sample containers with a nitrate solution to determine if a measurable decrease in these components could be observed.

Previous denitrification studies in the Elk Valley Aquifer showed an increase in sulfate in conjunction with a decrease in the concentration of nitrate. Sulfate is a by product of autotrophic denitrification where sulfide …
