Analysis Of Future Economic Opportunities For Branson, Missouri, Harrison Price Company
Analysis Of Future Economic Opportunities For Branson, Missouri, Harrison Price Company
Harrison "Buzz" Price Papers
The Branson/Lakes area, and the City of Branson in particular, experienced rapid growth in the early 1990s, driven largely by creation of music shows in an increasing number of new theaters. The growth of music shows slowed in the latter part of the decade and some theaters are now dark. Recognizing the change, the Board of Directors of the Branson Regional Economic Development Association (BREDA), which represents the diverse business and civic interests of the area, established an Entertainment Product Advisory Council (EPAC) consisting of representatives of business, entertainment and government to review the current situation and make recommendations for …

Marriage Proposals: From One-Size-Fits-All To Postmodern Marriage Law, Barbara Stark
Marriage Proposals: From One-Size-Fits-All To Postmodern Marriage Law, Barbara Stark
Hofstra Law Faculty Scholarship
Before they marry, few couples have any real alternative to one-size-fits-all marriage. Expectations are often very different, however, not only among different couples but between the partners in a particular couple as well. Because these different expectations are rarely explicit, they are rarely addressed. During the marriage, similarly, the law neither reflects nor accommodates the partners' diverse experiences. There are no legal mechanisms for realizing their hopes or cushioning their disappointments. Rather, the parties are left to "work things out" through endless negotiations and compromises. If we as a society value marriage, and want marriage to succeed, we should provide …

Business Lawyer, Woman Warrior: An Allegory Of Feminine And Masculine Theories, Barbara Ann White
Business Lawyer, Woman Warrior: An Allegory Of Feminine And Masculine Theories, Barbara Ann White
All Faculty Scholarship
The first part of this essay is a discourse on how two of the last half century’s most influential contributions to legal thinking: Law and Economics Jurisprudence and Feminist Legal Theory, whose adherents are normally adversaries, can function synergistically to create a greater analytic power. Using business law issues as an example - historically law and economics’ terrain but recently explored by feminism - I comment on how each can unravel different knots but each standing alone leave other conundrums unresolved.
Expanding on the feminist concept of “masculine thinking,” I discuss how, just as law and economics’ analytic style (i.e., …

A Disjunction Between Personal, Professional And Societal Values In Pre-Service Teacher Education, Peter Reynolds
A Disjunction Between Personal, Professional And Societal Values In Pre-Service Teacher Education, Peter Reynolds
Australian Journal of Teacher Education
Following the development of the Common and Agreed National Goals for Schooling (Australian Education Council, 1989) the Western Australian Curriculum Council was established and it has subsequently developed a Curriculum Framework for eight learning areas as well as for the values identified as implicit within those learning areas and within the governance of schools (Curriculum Council, 1998). These values have been called the shared core values of Australian society. Within the context of an analysis of these values, this paper presents the findings from a survey of the personal and the perceived societal values of Australia held by a sample …

Diversity Of Plant-Parasitic Nematodes And Their Relationships With Some Soil Physico-Chemical Characteristics In Improved Fallows In Western Kenya, Serigne T. Kandji, Callistus K.P.O. Ogol, Alain Albrecht
All Peer-Reviewed Publications
A survey was conducted in the food crop production area of western Kenya to characterise the nematode communities in different cropping systems and to monitor the effect of improved fallows on the abundance, diversity and community structure of plant-parasitic nematode assemblages. Soil samples were taken from short-term natural fallows (<3 years), old natural fallows (>20 years), maize/beans cultivated fields and improved fallows with Crotalaria grahamiana, Sesbania sesban and Tephrosia vogelii. The Shannon diversity index and evenness were used to assess nematode diversity in the different cropping systems. The relationships between plant-parasitic nematodes and the soil physico-chemical properties were investigated with principal component analysis and …3>
