Using Computer Self-Efficacy Scale To Measure The Attitudes Of Taiwan Elementary Preservice Teachers Toward Computer Technology, Wan-Yu Chao Jan 2001

Using Computer Self-Efficacy Scale To Measure The Attitudes Of Taiwan Elementary Preservice Teachers Toward Computer Technology, Wan-Yu Chao

Electronic Theses and Dissertations 2000 - 2009

The purpose of the study was to identify the attitudes of preservice teachers enrolled in one elementary teacher training college in Taiwan toward selected issues related to computer technology as measured by the Computer Self-Efficacy (CSE) scale. The focus of this study, as measured by the CSE scale, was to determine whether significant differences existed between the attitudes of Taiwan preservice teachers regarding computer experience, computer training course, and computer ownership. The sample was comprised of 200 preservice teachers enrolled in one elementary teacher training college in Taiwan during the 2000--2001 school year. The instrument utilized in this study, CSE …

Ecological Observations Of Juvenile Head-Started Western Pond Turtles (Clemmys Marmorata Marmorata) In Their First Season In The Wild, Steven Lee Clark Jan 2001

Ecological Observations Of Juvenile Head-Started Western Pond Turtles (Clemmys Marmorata Marmorata) In Their First Season In The Wild, Steven Lee Clark

Dissertations and Theses

This project studies 16 juvenile, western pond turtles that were head-started as part of a species recovery program. To my knowledge, no studies have focused solely on juvenile western pond turtles. This study focuses on the turtles’ ecology in their first season in the wild. Radio telemetry was used to study the turtles’ survival, habitat use, behavior and movement.

All study animals survived. Turtles were found to choose aquatic habitat with 81 %-100% floating vegetative cover. Data suggest that refugia was the most important benefit of floating vegetation. All overwintered in upland sites after brief stays in the ponds. Home …

The Impact Of Fine Sediment On Stream Macroinvertebrates In Urban And Rural Oregon Streams, Raymond S. Hoy Jan 2001

The Impact Of Fine Sediment On Stream Macroinvertebrates In Urban And Rural Oregon Streams, Raymond S. Hoy

Dissertations and Theses

Urbanization, often characterized by high impervious surface area, can result in excessive inputs of fine sediments into urban streams. Excessive fine sediments can blanket the stream bed filling the interstitial space in the substratum, which may have adverse effects on stream biota. A field survey was conducted in Oregon urban and non-urban basins to investigate the relationship between fine sediments and stream macroinvertebrates. Physical, chemical, and biological data were collected from 59 stream sites in two urban and two rural streams. The stream sites fulfilled a continuous sediment gradient, which ranged from a low of 2% of fine sediment in …

An Analysis Of A Radio Frequency Sensor As A Means To Remotely Sense Selected Surface Topographies In An Agriculture Environment, Barry Michael Alexia Jan 2001

An Analysis Of A Radio Frequency Sensor As A Means To Remotely Sense Selected Surface Topographies In An Agriculture Environment, Barry Michael Alexia

Dissertations and Theses @ UNI

Remote sensing is the science and art of obtaining information about an object, area or phenomenon through the analysis of data acquired by a device that is not in contact with the object, area, or phenomenon under investigation. The remotely sensed data can be of many forms, including variations in force distribution, acoustic wave distribution, or electromagnetic energy distribution.Information thus acquired can be used for observing, monitoring, and studying planetary surfaces and environments.

Because there are many ways to acquire data about targets of interest, there are many types of remote sensors that can be used, including visible, infrared, and active …

Dose-Banding Of Cytotoxic Drugs: A New Concept In Cancer Chemotherapy, Gj Sewell, Rj Plumridge Jan 2001

Dose-Banding Of Cytotoxic Drugs: A New Concept In Cancer Chemotherapy, Gj Sewell, Rj Plumridge

School of Health Professions

Doses of cytotoxic drugs have traditionally been calculated on the basis of body surface area (BSA), the only exception being carboplatin, for which the dose is calculated on the basis of renal function and targeted area under the plasma concentration–time curve. The use of BSA for dosage calculation arises from Phase I drug development, when animal doses are recalculated for humans on the basis of BSA. This practice has continued into the later drug development phases and, after marketing approval, into clinical practice.1,2 As a result, each dose of cytotoxic drug is individualized for each patient in accordance with current …

Two Sides Of A River: Mormon Transmigration Through Quincy, Illinois, And Hannibal, Missouri, Fred E. Woods

Faculty Publications

The infamous extermination order issued 27 October 1838 by Missouri Governor Lilburn W. Boggs caused thousands of Latter-day Saints to flee the state and seek refuge in Illinois across the Mississippi River. Illinois, established in 1817, had high hopes for its future, but just two decades later it was smitten, like the rest of America, with the economic depression of 1837. In such a needy condition, the people Illinois welcomed the Mormon migrants for three central reasons. Financially motivated, the state viewed the Latter-day Saint influx as an opportunity to raise its population to boost the economy through the collection …
