Genetic Testing And Employment Litigation, Harry Zanville Jan 2001

Genetic Testing And Employment Litigation, Harry Zanville

Journal of Law and Health

There are a number of very surprising studies that talk about the absolute amenability of these healthcare providers to turn over information without authority. So when we go over those kinds of facts and in some cases partial assumption together, you end up in a context where bad things can happen to good people, and that's what the Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) case really was about.

The Mourning Of Alexander The Great, Jeanne Reames Jan 2001

The Mourning Of Alexander The Great, Jeanne Reames

History Faculty Publications

To say that Hephaistion's death devastated the conqueror merely repeats a commonplace. But was Alexander's subsequent bereavement excessive, or-to use clinical terms-pathological?l Pervading popular opinion has been a guarded (or not-so-guarded) "yes." Nonetheless, I propose to argue that a number of actions heretofore seen as abnormal are in fact behaviors typical of the bereaved. The difference in Alexander's case was due to his wealth and his authority: he could both afford such gestures and have them enforced.

The Association Of Generalized Joint Hyperlaxity And Occurrence Of Musculoskeletal Injury, Beth Klancher Jan 2001

The Association Of Generalized Joint Hyperlaxity And Occurrence Of Musculoskeletal Injury, Beth Klancher

Physical Therapy Scholarly Projects

Generalized joint hyperlaxity is characterized by excess range of motion in most joints, which surpasses accepted normal range of motion values for the population. Hyperlaxity is present in 4-7% of the general population. Literature is inconclusive regarding the significance of joint laxity as a predisposing factor to injury in non-athletic populations.

The purpose of this study was to determine if there is a significant correlation between joint laxity and previous musculoskeletal injuries. In addition, the data was evaluated to compare laxity rates by gender, choice of collegiate major, type of injuries, and weekly activity level.

Two-hundred and thirty-nine students, age …

Data on effectiveness were analyzed in terms of the number of instructional sessions (M = 9.58), the number of trials (M = …
