The Validity Of The Transformational, Transactional, And Laissez-Faire Leadership Model As Measured By The Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire (Mlq 5x), John Antonakis Jan 2001

The Validity Of The Transformational, Transactional, And Laissez-Faire Leadership Model As Measured By The Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire (Mlq 5x), John Antonakis

Frank Dilley Award for Outstanding Doctoral Study

The Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire (MLQ), the most used instrument for gauging Bass and Avolio's full-range leadership model, underwent numerous revisions to answer criticisms about its construct validity. Since researchers found conflicting results regarding the number of factors that best constitute the model, this study examined whether the factor structure of the MLQ (5X) was consistent across a diverse array of samples. The total size of the samples was 6,525, integrated from 18 independent studies. Using confirmatory structural equation modeling techniques, results indicated that the factor structure was best represented by nine single-order factors, as asserted by Bass and Avolio. These …

Faculty Publications - Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) Program

Church-psychology collaboration is gaining attention among professional psychologists, but few training or practical research opportunities are available for those interested in collaborating with religious leaders and organizations. The authors introduce the Center for Church-Psychology Collaboration (CCPC), with its mission to make sustained and relevant contributions to the research literature in psychology, train doctoral students in effective means of collaborating with religious organizations, and provide service to religious communities throughout the world. Domestic and global implications are discussed.

G01-1433, Environmental Stresses And Tree Health, Jon S. Wilson, Mark O. Harrell Jan 2001

G01-1433, Environmental Stresses And Tree Health, Jon S. Wilson, Mark O. Harrell

University of Nebraska-Lincoln Extension: Historical Materials

Environmental stresses cause many health problems in Nebraska trees. Hot and cold temperatures, drying winds, poor soil and root conditions and human activity can damage leaves, bark and roots, and can predispose trees to secondary insect and disease attack. Keeping a tree in good condition through proper maintenance can prevent many environmentally related health problems.

This NebGuide is intended to help tree owners identify tree health problems caused by environmental stresses and provide ways to prevent or reduce damage.

Nf01-484 Biosecurity: Protecting Your Health And The Health Of Your Animals, Rosie Nold, David R. Smith

University of Nebraska-Lincoln Extension: Historical Materials

The recent media attention on outbreaks of foot-and-mouth disease in the United Kingdom, pseudorabies in Nebraska and other livestock-related diseases reminds us of the costly consequences of livestock diseases. Most diseases, including foot-and-mouth disease and pseudorabies, cannot be transmitted from animals to humans. Even though these diseases do not present any direct risks to humans, human contact and attendance at fairs can help spread these diseases to other livestock herds. Livestock disease outbreaks can be economically devastating to your family, your community and the state, which derives a large portion of its income from the livestock industry. Some diseases, such …

Interview #5 Abstract And Transcript, 2001, Carrie Noble Kline, Anonymous

0705: Carrie Noble Kline Papers

We have no transcript, only a description in a few pages of the content of his interview with a gay man in his sixties whose childhood years were spent in an urban neighborhood in Southern West Virginia. He articulates a theme of Victorian living brought on by both his church and his mother. He carries some of these ethics into his life today, striving to present himself as an example of a gay man who is a good, quiet neighbor and community member. It was not until his marriage to a woman ended that he recognized his sexual orientation.

Interview #12 Abstract And Transcript, 2001, Carrie Noble Kline, Anonymous

0705: Carrie Noble Kline Papers

This bisexual woman in her twenties was raised in a small community in the Southern half of West Virginia as well as another state further south. She portrays her path to self-acceptance, having “tried not to be like this,” and having been condemned as a lesbian in her high school. She calls for support groups and a greater understanding for those who are not gay or lesbian, but comfortably bisexual.

Durational, Proportionate, And Absolute Frequency Characteristics Of Disfluencies: A Longitudinal Study Regarding Persistence And Recovery, Rebecca Throneburg, Ehud Yairi Jan 2001

Durational, Proportionate, And Absolute Frequency Characteristics Of Disfluencies: A Longitudinal Study Regarding Persistence And Recovery, Rebecca Throneburg, Ehud Yairi

Faculty Research and Creative Activity

The main objective of this study was to investigate developmental aspects of disfluencies over time as stuttering persists or ameliorates for 2 groups of preschool age children who stutter. Results indicated that the frequency, type, and duration of disfluencies remained relatively constant instead of increasing as expected in the persistent group over a 3-year period. In contrast, the recovered group's initially higher frequency of disfluency decreased over time, as did their number of repetition units and proportion of disrhythmic phonations, while the duration of silent intervals between repetition units and proportion of monosyllabic word repetitions increased.
