Her parents met in Smyrna and her father sent for her mother after he got to Posadas. They married in Paraguay because the Argentine officials didn't want to officiate over the marriage of a minor. Her mother was illiterate, yet she knew how to handle business affairs and was a musician. They participated in the small Turkish community. They moved to Corrientes and her mother's large family joined her there. The Turkish community in Corrientes was large. Her mother, with her friends, held singing and dancing sessions on Sundays to raise money to build the synagogue, which became the Asociación …

This session describes and then models exercises/techniques used in the Colorado Seeking Educational Equity and Diversity (SEED) Project, a collaborative partnership between Metropolitan State College of Denver and several Denver public schools. These partnerships were created to provide faculty-centered professional development opportunities to support those who wanted to incorporate multicultural issues into their curriculum.

Scale model tests were completed in the University of New Hampshire (UNH) Wave/Tow tank to determine the movements and forces on two different fish cage models. The results of the testing were used to validate a finite element analysis and also were scaled up to that of a full sized, deployed fish cage used for aquaculture purposes.

The first model was a “skeleton” cage (without nets) rectangular in shape. This model was moored submerged in front of a viewing window and subjected to various regular waves. The motions were then recorded nonintrusively by means of an optical system acting through …

The Role Of Shame In Adolescent Victim And Bully Behaviors: A Validation Study Of The Thurston-Cradock Test Of Shame, Kathy E. Meier

This study was designed to investigate the role of shame in adolescent victim and bully behaviors. Shame is an affective experience that involves viewing the self as inadequate, incompetent, worthless, or the like. Chronic shame leads to the belief that the self is flawed or damaged beyond repair. Individuals tend to respond to shame in three primary ways: deflation, inflation/contempt, and aggression. Shame affects people at every developmental stage, but adolescents are particularly prone to shame because they tend to believe others are perpetually evaluating them. Trends. When Is A Psychological Profile Not A Psychological Profile? The Fbi And School Violence, Ibpp Editor

International Bulletin of Political Psychology

This article discusses the difficulties of predicting and preventing school violence. Though the FBI does have a list of "warning signs" by which to evaluate potential perpetrators of lethal school violence, they do not consider this list to be a profile. This is especially true given that no reliable predictors of lethal school violence have been found.
