Analog Processing Of Signals From A Czt Strip Detector With Orthogonal Coplanar Anodes, K Larson, V T. Jordanov, Mark L. Mcconnell, John R. Macri, James M. Ryan, A Drake, L A. Hamel, O Tousignant

We present the requirements, design, and performance of an analog circuit for processing the non-collecting anode strip signals from a cadmium zinc telluride (CZT) strip detector with orthogonal coplanar anodes. Detector signal simulations and measurements with a prototype are used to define the range of signal characteristics as a function of location of the gamma interaction in the detector. The signals from the non- collecting anode strip electrodes are used to define two of the three spatial coordinates including the depth of interaction, the z dimension. The present report originated in a MSU policy analysis class taught during 1996. The professor and students agreed to construct a class that represented a grounded experience in policy analysis touching upon a current and relevant issue. We began exploring the policies surrounding the education of migrant children in Michigan.

Methods Of Identifying A Composition That Alters Connective Tissue Growth Factor Expression, Gary R. Grotendorst, Douglass Douglass M. Bradham

The present invention provides a novel polypeptide, Connective Tissue Growth Factor (CTGF), polynucleotides encoding CTGF, and including 5' and 3' untranslated nucleotides, antibodies reactive with CTGF and means for producing CTGF. Also provided are diagnostic and therapeutic methods for using CTGF, as well as an assay for identifying compositions which affect the expression of CTGF polynucleotide. The invention provides a novel TGF-.beta. responsive element upstream of the polynucleotide encoding CTGF structural gene.

Although flu shares a lot of symptoms with the common cold, it can be deadly for the very young, those with chronic illnesses and the elderly. The virus also can make healthy people miserable and can last for one to two weeks, says Barbara Collier, a nurse practitioner and director of The University of Mississippi Student Health Services.
