Supreme Court Of Pennsylvania Committee On Racial And Gender Bias In The Justice System: Testimony Of Professor Michelle J. Anderson, Michelle J. Anderson
Women’s Law Forum (2000-2006)
In testimony given before the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania Committee on Racial and Gender Bias in the Justice System in December 2000, Professor Anderson addressed the present state of rape law in Pennsylvania. Professor Anderson discussed the leading Pennsylvania criminal cases addressing rape. Professor Anderson's testimony concludes that the substantive law of rape in Pennsylvania continues to evince a profound gender bias and that the processing of rape complaints by police in Pennsylvania can also be gender biased.

Teaching Ethics At The Primary Level, Joseph R. Sanok
Teaching Ethics At The Primary Level, Joseph R. Sanok
Honors Theses
Over the last century, the teaching of ethics in primary schools has changed greatly. The greatest influence upon public schools has been the shift in parents' attitudes towards teaching ethics in the school setting. Parents have progressively wanted to have more control over their child's ethical learning, thus becoming more critical of the teaching of ethics within public schools. This has led to greater input from parents. Christian ethics had long been the yardstick for ethical teachings, although in 1962 in the Engel v. Vitale case, school prayer was ruled unconstitutional, removing Christian views from the school setting. As a …

Linking Childhood Sexual Abuse And Abusive Parenting: The Mediating Role Of Maternal Anger, David Dilillo, George C. Tremblay, Lizette Peterson
Linking Childhood Sexual Abuse And Abusive Parenting: The Mediating Role Of Maternal Anger, David Dilillo, George C. Tremblay, Lizette Peterson
Department of Psychology: Faculty Publications
Objective: This study had two primary objectives: First, to examine the association between childhood sexual abuse (CSA) and later parenting characteristics, particularly physical abuse potential, and second, to explore maternal anger as a mediator of the relationship between CSA and adult physical abuse potential.
Method: Utilized a community sample of low SES participants that included 138 mothers classified as having experienced CSA, and a comparison group of 152 non-sexually abused mothers. Parenting variables examined included the mothers' physical abuse potential, nurturance toward their children, unrealistic developmental expectations of children, as well as frequencies of spanking and general punishment. Data was …

Measurement Of The W Boson Mass Using Large Rapidity Electrons, B. Abbott, Gregory R. Snow, D0 Collaboration
Measurement Of The W Boson Mass Using Large Rapidity Electrons, B. Abbott, Gregory R. Snow, D0 Collaboration
Gregory Snow Publications
We present a measurement of the W boson mass using data collected by the DØ. experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron during 1994–1995. We identify W bosons by their decays to en final states where the electron is detected in a forward calorimeter. We extract the W boson mass MW by fitting the transverse mass and transverse electron and neutrino momentum spectra from a sample of 11 089 W→eν decay candidates. We use a sample of 1687 dielectron events, mostly due toZ→ee decays, to constrain our model of the detector response. Using the forward …
