Part One of this article provides a phenomenological and hedonic critique of the conception of the human - and thus the female - that underlies liberal legal feminism. Part Two presents a phenomenological critique of the conception of the human - and thus the female - which underlies radical feminist legal criticism. Again, I will argue that in both cases the theory does not pay enough attention to feminism: liberal feminist legal theory owes more to liberalism than to feminism and radical feminist legal theory owes more to radicalism than it does to feminism. A Local Zero-Two Law And Some Applications, Radu Zaharopol

In the paper we obtain a local zero-two law for positive contractions of $L^1$-spaces, which we use in order to offer new proofs of a theorem of Orey concerning Markov chains, and of the strong asymptotic stability of certain Markov operators that have appeared in the study of the Tjon-Wu equation and in connection with the Hannsgen and Tyson model of the cell cycle.

Nontoxic, low surface free energy silicone coatings having reduced biofouling adhesion strength have been developed as an alternative to antifouling paints. Silicone coatings permit macrofouling to adhere; however, fouling can be removed easily by water pressure or light scrubbing. One of the current methods used to evaluate the performance of non-toxic silicone fouling-release coatings relies heavily on fouling coverage. The organismal community structure as well as total coverage can affect the ease of fouling removal from these coatings. This paper explores fouling coverage and organismal adhesion over time. Proper Use Of Ammoniated Low-Quality Forages For The Wintering Of Spring-Calving Beef Cow Herds In The Intermountain West, D. R. Zobell

Low‐quality forages (LQF) such as cereal straws or post‐ripe hays are often used as economical feed sources for the wintering of beef cow herds. The ammoniation of such forages increases the digestibility and crude protein (CP) enough so that these forages can be used as the basis of beef cow diets, even during late gestation and early lactation if supplemented properly.

What began in the 1950s as a small patch of weeds near a grain elevator in Juab County, turned into a serious environmental problem that impacts the state’s wildlife, grazing and tourist industries. In the early 1990s, it was estimated that squarrose knapweed infested nearly 200,000 acres of rangeland in central Utah.

Objective: In many developing-country urban areas, municipally supplied water is not microbiologically safe. This study evaluated drinking water quality and effect of home water purification efforts in Karachi, Pakistan.Methods: Members of 300 households, including 100 households who used the Aga Khan University Hospital Laboratory and 200 of their neighbors were interviewed. In 293 consenting households, structured observations were performed and drinking water was analyzed for the presence of coliforms, using the multiple tube fermentation technique.Results: Although 193 of the 293 households (66%) reported using some method to purify their drinking water, including 169 (58%) who boiled their water, only 48 …

This article discusses the different understandings of the meaning of the precautionary principle as a means to cope with public health risks. The article reviews the position of the Treaty Establishing the European Community (“EC”) on this principle to assess whether, and to what extent, the EC’s position conforms to the limits imposed by World Trade Organization (“WTO”) law. I will examine whether the precautionary principle, as interpreted by the EC, is reconcilable with the WTO agreements and forms part of WTO law. The purpose of this study was to determine the attitudes of Agricultural Science and Technology teachers toward integrating science into their curricula. Perceptions regarding integrating science and agriculture, the role of teacher preparation programs in integrating science, and integrating science to meet state standards indicated teachers had a positive attitude toward integrating science into agricultural education programs. More specifically, teachers believed that integrating science assists students in better understanding science concepts and their application to agriculture. The purpose of the study was to determine if the delivery of an integrated agriculture and science curriculum to Agricultural Education MAT (Master of Arts in Teaching) pre-service teachers increased their desire and ability to integrate their own curriculum and collaborate with other teachers once they started teaching, and to identify social and cultural barriers in existence between secondary teachers in agriculture and science. Over a third of nonresidents who visit Nebraska in the summer months go to attractions and events. For each attraction or event visited, they spend an average of a halfday longer stay in Nebraska and spend an additional $64, according to data from Nebraska's OED. Outdoor recreation will likely continue to increase with active families, climbing incomes, and shorter work weeks. However, Nebraskans may spend more on long weekends and vacations closer to home in coming years if fuel prices keep climbing. This article surveys a very specific legal context: the claims of mothers, who are lesbians, in custody disputes over their children, with their heterosexual ex-spouses, in Canadian courts. The author examines the developments in judgments surrounding custody involving a lesbian mother over the past two and a half decades, focusing on the line of reasoning within the judgments rather than the substantive results (that is, to whom custody is granted). Optically active butenolide and $\gamma$-butyrolactone derivatives were prepared by removing (R)-phenyl glycinol and (1R, 2R)-norpseudoephedrine used as chiral auxiliaries from butenolides and \gamma-butyrolactones in two steps. The structures of these products were determined using ^1H NMR, ^{13}C NMR, Mass spect., IR and microanalysis.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate waste management practices of purchasing, handling, storage, and disposal of agricultural chemicals, petroleum products, and maintenance residuals. One-hundred surveys were returned by agricultural producers from three Nebraska counties selected based on unique environmental and waste management issues. Twenty-four questions concerning agricultural chemicals and 16 questions directed to petroleum products and maintenance residuals are discussed. A follow-up interview with 45 respondents was conducted “on-site” to gain insight into their reported practices, perceptions, and actual practices. Most farmers (66%) tended to purchase pesticides in 3.8 to 10 L (1-2.5 gal) containers and most (79%) …
