Public Perceptions Of The Midwest’S Pavements - Wisconsin - Phase Iii (Final Report), Marquette University, Department Of Civil, Construction, And Environmental Engineering Sep 2000

Public Perceptions Of The Midwest’S Pavements - Wisconsin - Phase Iii (Final Report), Marquette University, Department Of Civil, Construction, And Environmental Engineering

Transportation Research Center: Public Perception of Midwest Pavements

The stratified sample furnished by WisDOT and the participants recruited by the WSRL provided a sample adequate for purposes of fulfilling the objectives of Phase III. The sample as furnished by the DOT was skewed towards better pavement quality based on PDI. However, the sample based on IRI was skewed toward poorer quality pavements. The team believes this shows a balanced sample, and the differences in pavement quality between the two indices are the result of the IRI boundaries for the categories. The categories in the two indices should be in closer agreement, although they measure different characteristics.

Overall, the …

Characteristics Of Nursing Doctoral Programs In The United States, Melanie Mcewen, Gregory A. Bechtel Sep 2000

Characteristics Of Nursing Doctoral Programs In The United States, Melanie Mcewen, Gregory A. Bechtel

Nursing Faculty Publications

The expansive growth of doctoral programs in the United States has necessitated a need to determine demographic attributes of the academic program, characteristics of the students, admission criteria, and curriculum patterns. Seventy-eight doctoral programs were sent a researcher-designed survey and 48 (62 per cent) responded. Results show an increasing shift away from clinical doctorates to the research doctorate, although few differences exist within the research focus of doctoral nursing programs. Consistent with previous reports in the literature, curricula are fairly standard and few differences were noted based on a number of criteria including geographic location, type of degree granted, Carnegie …

Distant Smiles: Painting Of Yishai Jusidman, Ken Gonzales-Day Sep 2000

Distant Smiles: Painting Of Yishai Jusidman, Ken Gonzales-Day

Scripps Faculty Publications and Research

Jusidman's eclectic mix of imagery spans everything from geisha and clowns to nameless psychiatric patients in Mexico City. Part of his ongoing exploration of the interrelationship between "distance" and "presence," his work explores the in-between spaces that separate objects from their representations, For Jusidman, this discrepancy "constitutes the soul of painting." It could be said that he uses paint the way others use language. His command of the grammar of painting and the vocabulary of its technique allows him to work beyond a singular style. (As might be expected, many are seduced by Jusidman's Virtuosity, as an artist but also …

Readiness For Health Promotion, Colleen Murphy-Southwick Ph.D., Tom Seekins Ph.D., University Of Montana Rural Institute Rural Institute

Health and Wellness

There is growing interest in health promotion, wellness, and the prevention of secondary conditions among people with disabilities. In rural areas where there is limited access to health care providers knowledgeable about disability, managing one’s own health and wellness and using strategies to prevent secondary conditions may be particularly important (Offner, Seekins & Clark, 1992; Seekins, 1992; Center for Disability Policy and Research, 1995; Seekins, Clay & Ravesloot, 1994; Seekins, et al., 1999).

A Study Guide To St. Paul's Letter To The Romans : A Section-By-Section Commentary On Romans With Questions For Reflection, Scott Gambrill Sinclair

Faculty Authored Books and Book Contributions

I have been dismayed for some time that there is a shortage of good biblical study guides. Most genuinely informed and creative books on the Bible are written primarily for scholars and are too technical (and often too long) to be accessible to general readers. This book is the result. Here I present my own under-standing of the structure and purpose of Romans and, at the same time, provide a survey of this epistle that any educated reader can follow and that will be useful for group Bible study as well. I hope that you find it helpful
