Scotty Bowman: The Greatest Hockey Coach Ever, Richard C. Crepeau

On Sport and Society

It might have been just one more of the endless stream of National Hockey League games that attract little attention before January. It was a 3-2 final with Federov scoring the winner with 28 seconds left on the clock. This one, however, was special as it marked a milestone for one of the greatest professional coaches of any sport in any time. Scotty Bowman, currently the coach of the Detroit Red Wings, was behind the bench in his 2,000th NHL game on Friday night as Detroit beat Vancouver.

Women, Environment And Development: Sub-Saharan Africa And Latin America, Evaline Tiondi Nov 2000

Women, Environment And Development: Sub-Saharan Africa And Latin America, Evaline Tiondi

USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations

Issues related to women, environment and development constitute a major global concern today. Women's roles as agents of change in the environment has increasingly become the focus of both research and policy concerns. Environmental resource management is directly linked to development, and this makes it crucial to examine the activities of women more closely. Women's role in the management of natural resources assumes a multidimensional nature. Unfortunately, the central and crucial role that women play is often both overlooked and unappreciated, rendering them invisible and greatly diminishing their contribution as both producers and active agents in sustainable development. One of …

State Of Israel V. Kahane, Theodor Or, Aharon Barak, Shlomo Levin, Yaakov Kedmi, Dalia Dorner, Jacob Turkel, Eliahu Mazza

Translated Opinions

Facts: Further hearing in the judgment of the Supreme Court (President A.  Barak and Justices A. Goldberg and E. Mazza) dated March 2, 1998 in CA 6696/96 Benyamin Kahane v. State of Israel, in which Benyamin Kahane was acquitted of offenses based on sections 133 and 134(c) of the Penal Code 5737-1977.  The acquittal overturned a conviction in the District Court which in turn had overturned an acquittal in the Magistrate’s Court.  Two main issues were under consideration in the further hearing.  The first dealt with the characteristics of the protected value or values in the offense of sedition …

Epitope-Tagged P0glycoprotein Causes Charcot-Marie-Tooth–Like Neuropathy In Transgenic Mice, Stefano C. Previtali, Angelo Quattrini, Marina Fasolini, Maria Carla Panzeri, Antonello Villa, Marie T. Filbin, Wenhui Li, Shing-Yan Chiu, Albee Messing, Lawrence Wrabetz, M. Laura Feltri

Publications and Research

In peripheral nerve myelin, the intraperiod line results from compaction of the extracellular space due to homophilic adhesion between extracellular domains (ECD) of the protein zero (P0) glycoprotein. Point mutations in this region of P0 cause human hereditary demyelinating neuropathies such as Charcot-Marie-Tooth. We describe transgenic mice expressing a full-length P0 modified in the ECD with a myc epitope tag. The presence of the myc sequence caused a dysmyelinating peripheral neuropathy similar to two distinct subtypes of Charcot-Marie-Tooth, with hypomyelination, altered intraperiod lines, and tomacula (thickened myelin). The tagged protein was incorporated into myelin and was associated with the morphological …
