From Joe Waller To Omali Yeshitela: How A Controversial Mural Changed A Man, Anita Richway Cutting
USF St. Petersburg campus Honors Program Theses (Undergraduate)
Shortly before noon on December 29, 1966, Joseph Waller Jr., the twenty-five year old vice chairman of the local chapter of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating committee (SNCC), led seven African-American men on a protest march to city hall. They marched in unison, marking their steps with a loud rhythmic chant that bolstered their confidence and demonstrated their solidarity, occasionally breaking their cadence to invite other African Americans to join their procession. Many onlookers were reluctant to join the group, intimidated by the fact that conservative black community leaders had recently condemned SNCC's efforts and accused the group of seeking nothing …

The Significance Of The Kicker In American And European Football, Richard C. Crepeau
On Sport and Society
One of the primary objectives in sport is to win. In American sport winning is too often the only thing. Coaches spend sixteen to eighteen-hour days in seven-day weeks searching for all those little keys to victory that are necessary to success. Owners too spend time, energy and especially dollars in the great quest for the glory that comes with winning.

Difference In Hearing Screening Failure Rates As A Function Of Ethnicity In Well Newborns Screened At Tampa General Hospital, Sybil N. Prewitt
Difference In Hearing Screening Failure Rates As A Function Of Ethnicity In Well Newborns Screened At Tampa General Hospital, Sybil N. Prewitt
USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
The difference in otoacoustic emission (OAE) hearing screening failure rates as a function of ethnic category was investigated in a population of newborns at Tampa General Hospital, Tampa, Florida. Clinical observation led to a concern that due to a higher incidence of outer and middle ear dysfunction in Hispanic newborns and children, screening could result in disparate failure rates, with a larger number of these infants requiring further testing. This result would warrant changes in current protocols, as well as screener training, and parent counseling practices.
Between January and July of 2000, 1407 newborns were tested utilizing distortion product otoacoustic emission …
Survey Of Auditory Brainstem Response Referral Criteria, Shannon N. Felder
Survey Of Auditory Brainstem Response Referral Criteria, Shannon N. Felder
USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
The primary objective of the project was to survey recognized “experts” in the field of neurodiagnostic audiology and practicing audiologists regarding their referral criteria and referral patterns for administering an auditory brainstem response test (ABR). For purposes of this study, “expert” was defined as any recognized audiologist with at least two or more publications and/or seminars in the field of auditory evoked potentials. Responses of experts and practicing audiologists were compared and contrasted to establish: a) if there was a standard referral pattern; b) what, if any, were the apparent critical components of referral patterns; and, c) whether or not …

The Anchor: 2000
The Anchor began in 1887 and was first issued weekly in 1914. Covering national and campus news alike, Hope College’s student-run newspaper has grown over the years to encompass over two-dozen editors, reporters, and staff. For much of The Anchor's history, the latest issue was distributed across campus each Wednesday throughout the academic school year (with few exceptions). In recent years The Anchor moved to monthly print issues and a more frequently updated website. The Anchor is now published in print twice per academic semester. Occasionally, the volume and/or issue numbering is irregular.

Faculty Exchange Program In Second Year At Unl, Lynn Lutgen
Cornhusker Economics
The Agricultural Economics Department joined USDA in a Faculty Exchange Program (FEP) with the Ukraine and Russia in the spring of 1999. Each year four professors from the Ukraine and Russia arrive in Lincoln in August and leave the middle of December. While in Nebraska they take classes, travel, and develop class outlines and news articles that they will use when they return home. This year we have three professors visiting from the Ukraine and one from Russia. The following are their impressions of the U.S. and Nebraska, along with some thoughts on the Faculty Exchange Program.
