Self-Care Of Gestalt Therapists, Rebecca Brownell

Doctor of Psychology (PsyD)

The primary objective of this study was to assess the self-care practices of Gestalt therapists. The first part of this study included a review of the literature on therapist self-care practices. Next, a theoretical connection was developed between Gestalt therapy theory, including its theoretical foundations, and therapist self-care research. A review of the literature on Gestalt therapist self-care practices found it to be an area with limited anecdotal data and no formal research. Subsequently, methods were developed to assess the self-care practices of Gestalt therapists. In the process of developing such methods, the literature was reviewed for any quantitative measures …

Federal Habeas In The Information Age, Wayne A. Logan

Scholarly Publications

One would be hard-pressed to identify a more extolled, and storied, aspect of the Anglo-American legal tradition than the writ of habeas corpus. Tracing its lineage back to the Magna Carta, the Great Writ was so revered by the Framers of the U.S Constitution that they expressly prohibited its suspension except in times of extreme governmental distress. Writing in 1868, Chief Justice Salmon Chase characterized habeas as "the most important human right in the Constitution," the ''best and only sufficient defense of personal freedom." Justice Brennan, writing almost one hundred years later, observed that the history of habeas "is …

Student Works (2000-2009)

This case study sought to investigate whether the word processor had any discernible influence on the writing behaviour of one secondary school student and whether the use of the word processor had any effects on the quality of essays written. The subject wrote six argumentative essays, alternating between the conventional pen-and-paper and the word processor. Techniques of data collection included direct observations of the subject's writing behaviour and semi-structured interviews held immediately after each writing session. Her pen-and-paper writing behaviour and her computer-writing behaviour were coded, analysed and then compared for differences. Essays written with the pen-and-paper and the word …

International Child Abduction And The Escape From Domestic Violence, Merle H. Weiner

Fordham Law Review

The violence went on for nine months. . . . By the end, the beatings were happening weekly, sometimes three times a week. . . . It always went on in front of the kids. . . . My daughter still asks, 'Why'd papa try to break your arms and legs?'. . . I left France when I realized after nine months that there was nothing I could do there to stop the violence.
