Effects Of Growth Hormone On Hepatic Regeneration, Mahmut Başoğlu, Ahmet A. Balik, İbrahi̇m Kavak, Cemal Gündoğdu, Zekai̇ Erman, İlhan Yildirgan, Durkaya Ören

Turkish Journal of Medical Sciences

The aim of this experimental study was to determine the effects of growth hormone on hepatic regeneration after partial hepatectomy. Thirty pathogen free Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into three groups, each containing 10 rats. The animals were subjected to a sham operation in Group 1, and to left hepatic lobectomy in Groups 2 and 3. The animals in Groups 1 and 2 received saline solution (0.2 mg/kg/day), while growth hormone (Lilly Humotrope, Lilly France Usine de Fegersheim, France) (0.2 mg/kg/day) was given to the animals in Group 3 for seven days. Effects Of Acute Grayanotoxin-I Administrationon Hepatic And Renal Functions In Rats, Meral Aşçioğlu, Çi̇ğdem Özesmi̇, Paki̇ze Doğan, Fi̇ngen Öztürk

Turkish Journal of Medical Sciences

The effects of acute Grayanotoxin-I (GTX-I) administration on hepatic and renal functions in rats were investigated. GTX-I was administrated to the animals of groups 1, 2 and 3 at a single i.p. dose of 1 mg/kg, 0.5 mg/kg and 0.25 mg/kg respectively, and group 4 (control) received i.p. saline (0.9 %) solution only. One hour following the administration of GTX-I or saline, urine analysis (leukocytes, urobilinogen, protein, pH, blood, ketone, glucose, nitrites) was performed and serum was evaluated for activities of glutamic pyruvic transaminase (GPT), \gamma-glutamyl transferase (\gamma-GT) and isoenzymes of lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) (as a percentage of total LDH …

This article critiques the contemporary doctrine of Indian tribal self-determination thirty years after its inception in President Richard M. Nixon's famed 1970 Indian Message to Congress.

The first part focuses on the three most prominent strategies for tribal self-determination: 1) tribal strategy that seeks to "morph" their inherent and reserved sovereign powers into tribal regulatory powers that are effective throughout Indian Country; 2) tribal strategy that seeks to develop and assert economic sovereignty over their lands, resources, and commercial relationships as a means of revitalizing Indian Country; and 3) tribal strategy that seeks to reassert traditional cultural and religious beliefs …
