Facts:  The parties owned apartments in a four-apartment condominium. The Appellants submitted a request for a building permit to expand their apartment into the building’s common property, to which the Respondents objected. The local committee granted a building permit. The Respondents filed suit in the Haifa Magistrates Court, which granted a temporary injunction but ultimately denied the Respondents’ suit for a permanent injunction.  An appeal was then filed in the District Court, which initially denied a request for temporary injunction, but …

This study examined the efficacy of utilizing a computer interactive multimedia module as a tool for increasing student understanding of network computers at UND-Lake Region. Ninety four incoming freshman students enrolled at UND-Lake Region for the 1998/1999 academic year participated in a study comparing two methods of instruction. The primary purpose of this research project was to develop a handbook for novice lobbyists that will acquaint them with the art of lobbying as it applies to the state of New Jersey. The handbook examines the professional relationship that exists between legislators and lobbyists. An analysis of the behavior and practices of lobbyists as they interact with legislators was conducted along with the interacting roles the two professions play in the legislative process. A review of several sources of information such as political science literature, political journals, practitioner essays and several newspaper sources were conducted to supplement the research. …

The Estate of Sam Sheppard opposed the State’s motions to exclude three expert witnesses: Professor James Chapman, John Wilson, and, Dr. Rajit Chakraborty.

Professor Chapman is a criminologist from New York; the State sought exclusion because the Estate of Sam Sheppard did not meet the submission deadline set at the pretrial conference. The Estate explains that necessary documents, such as the1966 trial transcript, were not made available by the State for review soon enough to meet this deadline.

The Estate explains that John Wilson’s testimony should be admitted because it challenges some of the expert testimony the State has secured. …

I tested hypotheses about how olfactory communication is related to mating behavior in Alaskan moose (Alces alces gigas). Males dig rutting pits where urine is deposited to which females strongly respond. Consequently, male urine may contain primer pheromones that synchronize estrus of females. Urine samples were collected from captive moose on the Kenai Peninsula, Alaska. Samples included those from the mating season and from the nonrutting period for two adult males, one yearling male, and one male and one female calf. Acute Toxicity Of The Oil Dispersant Corexit 9500, And Fresh And Weathered Alaska North Slope Crude Oil To The Alaskan Tanner Crab (C. Bairdi), Two Standard Test Species, And V. Fischeri (Microtox Assay), Sara Louise Rhoton

Toxicity assays of the oil dispersant Corexit 9500, and fresh and weathered Alaska North Slope (ANS) crude oil were conducted on Alaskan tanner crab larvae (Chionoecetes bairdi) under cold-region conditions, the reference species, Mysidopsis bahia and Menidia beryllina, and Vibrio fischeri (Microtox bioassay). Acute 96-hour toxicity data for C. bairdi were calculated using the response 'affected' (decreased phototactic response and ability to swim). C. bairdi were most sensitive to non-dispersed weathered oil (EC₅₀=0.4 mg/L), least to dispersant-only solutions (EC₅₀=1,267 mg/L), and were typically more sensitive than the reference species. Dispersant-only solutions were consistently least toxic for all species tested. Dispersed …

This research project was a qualitative study with data collected primarily through interviews with three constituencies of welfare-to-work job readiness programs: TANF (Temporary Assistance to Needy Families) clients, nonprofit agency staff, and Department of Human Services (DHS) CalWORKs Department employment specialists. Specifically, six TANF clients, six nonprofit agency staff, and two DHS CalWORKs Department employment specialists were interviewed by the researcher. The study was conducted to determine which programmatic factors were related to success for single T ANF women participating in nonprofit organizations' work readiness programs in San Francisco. The purpose of this study was to identify ADN faculty and ADN student perceptions of the most effective clinical teaching characteristics (ECTC). An exploratory, descriptive design was implemented. ADN faculty and ADN students were surveyed using the Clinical Teacher Characteristics Instrument (CTCI). The CTCI consists of 20 characteristics of clinical teachers that are ranked on a five point Likert-type scale according to importance. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. Significant differences in perceptions of the most ECTC between the two groups were identified by a Mann Whitney U procedure. A t-test was performed to identify differences of perceptions …

State governments vest great authority in local governments to decide how and where private development shall occur, and in the alternative, where to preserve open land. The New York state legislature recognizes the importance of protecting open lands, and as such, has created several laws to facilitate local municipal action. Several methods exist that municipal government may use to accomplish this goal and this article provides several examples. The order-induced birefringence in the near-band-gap spectral range (0.75 to 2.5 eV), and its dependence on the degree of ordering η is reported for Al_0.48Ga_0.52InP₂. Transmission and reflection generalized variable angle spectroscopic ellipsometry, dark-field spectroscopy, and cross-polarized reflectance difference spectroscopy (CRDS) are used to determine precisely the room-temperature dielectric functions for polarization parallel and perpendicular to the ordering direction of a series of spontaneously CuPt-ordered samples grown by metalorganic vapor-phase epitaxy. The CRDS technique is introduced as an approach to sense extremely weak anisotropy at oblique angles of incidence. The observed order birefringence is …
