Employee Satisfaction Of Hotel Industry: A Case Study Of The Grand Hotel Taipei, Yenting Yeh
Employee Satisfaction Of Hotel Industry: A Case Study Of The Grand Hotel Taipei, Yenting Yeh
Theses
Employee satisfaction is related with customer satisfaction and employee performance in hotel. Though hotel operators in the West begin to attach importance to employee satisfaction, in Taiwan, this issue is not being treated as important as it is in the West. The purpose of this study is to do a first time survey about employee satisfaction levels in The Grand Hotel Taipei. The survey consists of five sections including workplace, the job, employee's opinion, benefits, and employee himself. Questionnaires were used to get to know employee demand and level ofjob satisfaction from supervisors and employees. The result of this study …

Researching Potential Partners For An Equestrian Learning Center In Frankenmuth, Mi, Tracy Weber
Theses
Researchers believe that 90% of emotional communication is non-verbal (Gibbs, 1995). Monty Roberts (1997), and many others in the equestrian industry, recognize the power of using horses as a communication tool for humans. The North American Riding for the Handicapped Association (NARHA) is an organization whose mission is to promote and support equine-facilitated activities, including communication, self-awareness and self-esteem. A learning organization incorporates the elements of a shared vision, personal mastery, systems thinking, mental models, and team learning. This study found that there are NARHA members that possess a learning organization philosophy and therefore could possibly be interested in creating …
Leadership Characteristics In An Organizational Transformation, Edward Keyes
Leadership Characteristics In An Organizational Transformation, Edward Keyes
Theses
The objective of this study was to determine if key leadership characteristics would be evident in leaders who exercised successfully an organizational transition. In reviewing the literature, an understanding was established that allowed the separation of Leadership versus Management and shared insight in situations where both are merged. Also developed was an extensive list of Leadership Characteristics. The study used the Delphi Method to obtain consensus from a selected group of General Managers within the Conference Center population. This study identified a limited set of key Leadership Characteristics required at the General Managers level for achieving successful organizational changes. The …
Evaluation Of Stepwise Spectral Unmixing With Hydice Data, Daniel Newland
Evaluation Of Stepwise Spectral Unmixing With Hydice Data, Daniel Newland
Theses
Images of ground scenes have a tradeoff between spatial and spectral resolution. Sensors with fine spectral resolution sacrifice high spatial resolution. A hyperspectral image has tens to hundreds of bands of spectral information, which can potentially be used to increase understanding of the spatial content of a scene despite resolution limitations. While some pixels in an image could be identified as "trees" or "roads," for example, a number of pixels will be mixed, containing two or more material classes. The process called unmixing calculates the fractional presence of those predetermined materials. A new statistics-based stepwise unmixing routine has recently been …
Simulation Of Spectra Signatures Of Chemical Leachates From Landfills, Jason Hamel
Simulation Of Spectra Signatures Of Chemical Leachates From Landfills, Jason Hamel
Theses
Chemical leachates from landfills can turn into dangerous hazards if they are not identified and properly disposed. Currently, these chemicals are identified in the laboratory with samples hand collected from contaminated sites. This is economical for small sites but quickly gets expensive and time consuming for larger facilities that can cover hundreds of acres or multiple sites. This study examines the feasibility of using new hyperspectral detectors and computer processing to autonomously identify the presence of these leachates and greatly simplifying the monitoring process for these large sites. The effect of even low concentrations of many chemicals requires the identification …

Hormone-Dependent Interaction Between The Amino- And Carboxyl-Terminal Domains Of Progesterone Receptor In Vitro And In Vivo, Marc J. Tetel, Paloma H. Giangrande, Susan A. Leonhardt, Donald P. Mcdonnell, Dean P. Edwards
Hormone-Dependent Interaction Between The Amino- And Carboxyl-Terminal Domains Of Progesterone Receptor In Vitro And In Vivo, Marc J. Tetel, Paloma H. Giangrande, Susan A. Leonhardt, Donald P. Mcdonnell, Dean P. Edwards
Faculty Research and Scholarship
Full transcriptional activation by steroid hormone receptors requires functional synergy between two transcriptional activation domains (AF) located in the amino (AF-1) and carboxyl (AF-2) terminal regions. One possible mechanism for achieving this functional synergy is a physical intramolecular association between amino (N-) and carboxyl (C-) domains of the receptor. Human progesterone receptor (PR) is expressed in two forms that have distinct functional activities: full-length PR-B and the amino-terminally truncated PR-A. PR-B is generally a stronger activator than PR-A, whereas under certain conditions PR-A can act as a repressor in trans of other steroid receptors. We have analyzed whether separately expressed …
