A Validity Study Of The Revised Joseph Pre-School And Primary Self-Concept Screening Test, Angela Lee

Theses and Dissertations

In order to identify students with low self-concept accurately, a valid test must be developed and administered. The purpose of this study was to examine the validity of the revised Joseph Pre-School and Primary Self Concept Screening Test (JPPSST). The alternate hypothesis investigated in this study was that the revised JPPSST is a valid test when compared to the Piers-Harris Self-Concept Scale. Both tests were given to 34 African-American students at a Philadelphia elementary school. An additional research question was investigated to determine whether the test scores could be used to predict academic performance. The results of both tests were …

Honors Theses

Twenty adolescent women using services at the Kalamazoo County Family Planning Clinic were interviewed using a protocol developed by the student investigator. Using the Health Belief Model (HBM) as the theoretical framework, suggestions were made to help improve area school programs such as practicing role-play during class and offering more classes in greater detail. Many of the adolescents recommended having more classes offered in school that cover the topics of STDs and health education in …

An Evaluation Of Gastrointestinal Parasites In The Mixed Breed/Pure Breed Pound Dog Population Of East Baton Rouge Parish, Stalanda L. Bradford

Electronic Dissertations and Theses

ABSTRACT An evaluation of gastrointestinal parasites was performed on mixed breed and pure breed pound dogs of East Baton Rouge Parish. Fecal samples were analyzed by the Modified Sheather's Sugar Floatation Technique. Of the 54 canine specimens, 55.6% were female and 44.4% were males. Overall, 19 of the 54 (35.19%) canines were infected. The male canines had the higher infectious condition of the two genders, and the crossbred canines had the higher infectious condition of the two breeds. Also, hookworms were the most prevalent gastrointestinal parasites found within this population.
