The Parent-School Partnership: Exploring The Role, Needs, And Barriers Of Parent Participation, Bethany J. Jarvis

Theses and Graduate Projects

The research reveals that a positive and active partnership between schools and parents is essential in successful learning and student achievement. Despite the comprehensive research in this area, educational practitioners remain ambivalent about parental involvement in schools, and parent participation is weak in many schools even when parents are invited. An exploratory study which addressed the role, needs, and barriers of parent participation was conducted using surveys to parents who have a child or children enrolled at Cambridge Elementary School. Cambridge Elementary School is located approximately 60 miles north of the Twin Cities Metro Area, and has close to 890 …

The Deseret Ranch: An Environmental History, Shawna Morrissey

Utah Space Grant Consortium

This paper outlines the project I am undertaking for my thesis. My thesis will examine the ecological history of the Deseret Land and Livestock Ranch. It will integrate quantitative and qualitative data to interpret a century of environmental change. While my research focuses on the period from 1891 to the present, it will also briefly review the long-term natural history of the region. This thesis will provide an opportunity to integrate traditional historical sources with new technologies. I will apply Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Remote Sensing technology to graphically chart environmental change. These innovative historical sources, in addition to …

An Analysis Of Pyramidal Image Fusion Techniques, T. R. Meek May 1999

An Analysis Of Pyramidal Image Fusion Techniques, T. R. Meek

Utah Space Grant Consortium

This paper discusses the application of multiresolution image fusion techniques to synthetic aperture radar (SAR) and Landsat imagery. Results were acquired through the development and application of image fusion software to test images. The test images were fused using six image fusion techniques that are the combinations from three types of image decomposition algorithms (ratio of low pass [RoLP] pyramids, gradient pyramids, and morphological pyramids) and two types of fusion algorithms (selection and hybrid selection and averaging). Based upon test results, this study concludes that: small details in city areas make morphological pyramids ineffective, selection forms of fusion do not …

Review Of Current Newsletter Literature With Today's Novice Publisher In Mind, Tobias Bruhn May 1999

Review Of Current Newsletter Literature With Today's Novice Publisher In Mind, Tobias Bruhn

Theses and Dissertations

The purpose of this project was to develop a comprehensive overview of current newsletter literature with the needs of novice publishers in mind. Just like any large organization or publishing house, first-time publishers use newsletters to communicate with their employees, club or church members, or customers.

However, in this booming industry, first-time publishers not only compete against each other, but also professional publishers with far greater resources and capabilities. No wonder that publishers go in and out of business on a daily basis. Therefore, this thesis limited the information to selected components of the newsletter production process appropriate for novice …
