Documentary Editing: Journal of the Association for Documentary Editing (1979–2011)
This quarterly feature provides an annotated bibliography of current documentary editions on subjects in the fields of American and English history, literature, and culture. It is generally restricted to first editions of works edited from manuscript and published in English, with occasional exceptions. A separate annual list of other scholarship and literature published by members of the Association will also be compiled if interest warrants it.

Ezra Pound: The Genius In The Bughouse: Review Of "I Cease Not To Yowl": Ezra Pound's Letters To Olivia Rossetti Agresti, Ed. Demetres P. Tryphonopoulos And Leon Surette., Peter Buitenhuis
Documentary Editing: Journal of the Association for Documentary Editing (1979–2011)
I mention this personal encounter because in this volume of letters from Pound to Olivia Rossetti Agresti, mostly written from St. Elizabeths, there is not a single mention of the. conditions under which he was living. He had been confined to the hospital in January 1946 after being adjudged by psychiatrists "eccentric, querulous, and egocentric," and unfit to stand trial for treason as a consequence of broadcasting over Rome radio during the war. For a year, he was housed in a barred cell in the criminal ward, then released to a general ward, and finally, toward the end of his …

"Nearer My Subject To Thee": Twenty Years Of A Documentary Editor's Engagement With Emma Goldman, Candace Falk
Documentary Editing: Journal of the Association for Documentary Editing (1979–2011)
I am honored to be speaking today in the city where, in 1908, the editor of the St.Louis Mirror proclaimed that Emma Goldman was "the daughter of a dream" and that "there was nothing wrong with her gospel except that she was 8,000 years ahead of her age." Here, at the twentieth anniversary of the Association for Documentary Editing, the Women's Interest Network breakfast has become a time to bond in the early morning hours with my sister-editors (and brother-editors, too) and to reflect upon our own experience as women, as documentary editors, as people who have devoted many years …

Identification Of The Pink Hibiscus Mealybug, Maconellicoccus Hirsutus (Green) (Hemiptera: Sternorrhyncha: Pseudococcidae, Douglass R. Miller
Insecta Mundi
The pink hibiscus mealybug, Maconellicoccus hirsutus (Green), has spread rapidly in the tropical and subtropical areas of the New World especially throughout the Caribbean Islands, and has recently been discovered in California, Mexico, and Belize. All instars of the pink hibiscus mealybug are described and illustrated to facilitate discovery of infestations. Comparisons with other common pest species are provided for most of the 8 instars, and a table is included that distinguishes the pink hibiscus mealybug from other pest species in the field.

Different Mechanisms Of C-Jun Nh2-Terminal Kinase-1 (Jnk1) Activation By Ultraviolet-B Radiation And By Oxidative Stressors, Mihail S. Iordanov, Bruce E. Magun
CUP Faculty Research
Irradiation of mammalian cells with ultraviolet-B radiation (UV-B) triggers the activation of a group of stress-activated protein kinases known as c-Jun NH2-terminal kinases (JNKs). UV-B activates JNKs via UV-B-induced ribotoxic stress. Because oxidative stress also activates JNKs, we have addressed the question of whether the ribotoxic and the oxidative stress responses are mechanistically similar. The pro-oxidants sodium arsenite, cadmium chloride, and hydrogen peroxide activated JNK1 with slow kinetics, whereas UV-B potentiated the activity of JNK1 rapidly.N-acetyl cysteine (a scavenger of reactive oxygen intermediates) abolished the ability of all oxidative stressors tested to activate JNK1, but failed …

The Charm And Challenges Of Living In Nebraska’S Rural Communities, John C. Allen, Rebecca Filkins, Sam Cordes
The Charm And Challenges Of Living In Nebraska’S Rural Communities, John C. Allen, Rebecca Filkins, Sam Cordes
Publications from the Center for Applied Rural Innovation (CARI)
Nebraska’s rural communities have experienced many changes in recent years. Depopulation and pressures to consolidate some of their services and government offices are only some of the challenges they are currently facing. How have these changes affected rural Nebraskans’ perceptions of their communities and the services available? Do their perceptions differ by the size of their community, the region in which they live, or by their occupation?
This report details results of 3,036 responses to the 1999 Nebraska Rural Poll, the fourth annual effort to take the pulse of rural Nebraskans. Respondents were asked a series of questions about their …

What Can An Honest Officer Do?, T N Seshan
What Can An Honest Officer Do?, T N Seshan
IIMB Management Review
Much is being said today about good governance when it is undoubtedly a scarce commodity all over the country. Instead of wondering whether to change to a presidential form of government, or revamping the entire system, T N Seshan suggests a good dose of honesty and adherence to the letter of the law. Whatever is best administrated is best, he maintains, and it is possible for an honest officer to function and to govern properly without changing the rules, if he establishes a reputation for uncompromising honesty.

An Investigation Of Gait Analysis For Stroke Patients By Computer Dynography System, Alice May-Kuen Wong, Chrong-Jyue Tsai, Fuk-Tan Tang, Pao-Tsai Cheng, Wei-Hsien Hong, Ming-Yih Lee
Rehabilitation Practice and Science
There are many techniques and methods for gait analysis, but the data are not easy for the clinician to read and to correlate clinically in patients with neurological deficits such as stroke. In this study, we tried to simplify the kinetic gait data of 102 functionally ambulant stroke patients in a more simple way through pattern recognition in addition to conventional gait parameters and compared them with 50 healthy subjects. All of the stroke patients had received rehabilitation programs and were functionally ambulant. The computer DynoGraphy (CDG) system was used for gait analysis. The foot contact patterns based on pattern …
