The Effects Of Computer Self-Efficacy And Outcome Expectancy On End-User Job Control And Stress, John W. Henry, Robert W. Stone Jan 1999

The Effects Of Computer Self-Efficacy And Outcome Expectancy On End-User Job Control And Stress, John W. Henry, Robert W. Stone

Journal of International Information Management

This article examines the effects of computer self-efficacy and outcome expectancy on the end-user's sense of felt stress as mediated by job control. A nationwide survey of information technology end-users provided the sample. The results show that computer self-efficacy directly impacts personal and job related outcome expectancies and that computer self-efficacy and job related outcome expectancies directly affect job control. Job control is shown to mediate the impacts of computer self-efficacy and job related expectancies on stress. The results are discussed and implications for information technology managers are presented.

Managing Health Information In New Zealand: An Analysis Of The Health Information Privacy Principles, Felix B. Tan, Gehan Gunasekara Jan 1999

Managing Health Information In New Zealand: An Analysis Of The Health Information Privacy Principles, Felix B. Tan, Gehan Gunasekara

Journal of International Information Management

The New Zealand Health Information Service has recently established a national health register. At the heart of this development are three national databases. These applications and their functions are presented. Other initiatives currently being explored are also discussed. The paper contends that these initiatives under the guise of advancing the nation's health may instead be infringing the privacy of the nation's citizens. An analysis of New Zealand's privacy legislation to the development of such a centralized health system is detailed. The paper concludes by considering the possibility of hidden agendas despite the provisions of the nation's privacy rules.

“I Know I Know It, I Know I Saw It” : The Stability Of The Confidence–Accuracy Relationship Across Domains, Brian H. Bornstein, Douglas J. Zickafoose

Department of Psychology: Faculty Publications

If the relationship between confidence and accuracy extended across domains, then one could assess performance in a known domain and use it to estimate performance in another domain. The stability of the confidence- accuracy relationship across the domains of eyewitness memory and general knowledge was investigated. The major findings of Experiment 1 were that in both domains participants were overconfident, yet more confident on correct than on incorrect responses, and that the degrees of overconfidence, calibration, and resolution in the 2 domains were positively correlated. Experiment 2 replicated these findings and showed that feedback about overconfidence reduced overall confidence levels …

Relationship Between Youth And Parent Perceptions Of Family Environment And Social Anxiety, Jeffrey B. Caster, Heidi M. Inderbitzen, Debra A. Hope

Department of Psychology: Faculty Publications

This study concurrently examined the relationship between adolescents’ perceptions of their parents’ child-rearing styles and family environment and their reports of social anxiety. Adolescents reporting higher levels of social anxiety perceived their parents as being more socially isolating, overly concerned about others’ opinions, ashamed of their shyness and poor performance, and less socially active than did youth reporting lower levels of social anxiety. Parent perceptions of child-rearing styles and family environment, however, did not differ between parents of socially anxious and nonsocially anxious adolescents. Results are comparable to studies using adult retrospective reports and are discussed with regard to the …

Dissociative Identity Disorder : Features, Etiology, And Treatment, Gretchen Elizabeth Honsell Jan 1999

Dissociative Identity Disorder : Features, Etiology, And Treatment, Gretchen Elizabeth Honsell

Graduate Research Papers

Dissociative Identity Disorder appears to be diagnosed more frequently in the current clinical arena. This may be connected to increased awareness of how people respond and cope with traumatic events, both singular and prolonged or serial. This increase in diagnoses may also correspond with new associations between childhood abuse and trauma, as well as research into how trauma is coded in memory.

Dissociation can be viewed as a natural phenomena that, when overly utilized as a defense against trauma and its impact, may develop in some persons into DID. Treatment of DID tends to progress through four phases: initial, middle, …

When A State Seizes Property During A Criminal Investigation, Due Process Requires Notice That The Property Was Seized, But Does Not Require Detailed Notice Of Post-Seizure Remedies: City Of Weat Covina V. Perkins, Emily L. Dimperio Jan 1999

When A State Seizes Property During A Criminal Investigation, Due Process Requires Notice That The Property Was Seized, But Does Not Require Detailed Notice Of Post-Seizure Remedies: City Of Weat Covina V. Perkins, Emily L. Dimperio

Duquesne Law Review

The Supreme Court of the United States held that the Due Process Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment requires a state or its local entities to provide notice that property was seized during a criminal investigation, but does not require a state to provide specific instructions or advice to owners who seek the return of property that was lawfully seized but no longer needed for police investigation or criminal prosecution.

City of West Covina v. Perkins, 119 S. Ct. 678 (1999).

The Federal Service Labor-Management Relations Statute Permits But Does Not Require Union-Initiated Midterm Bargaining: National Federal Employees, Local 1309 V. Department Of The Interior, Todd A. Portzline

Duquesne Law Review

The Supreme Court of the United States held that the FSLMRS permits union-initiated midterm bargaining, and that Congress delegated the agency charged with the administration of the FSLMRS the power to determine whether the statute requires federal agencies to negotiate union-initiated midterm contract proposals.

National Federation of Federal Employees, Local 1309 v. Department of the Interior, 119 S. Ct. 1003 (1999).

The Effects Of Alewife (Alosa Pseudoharengus) On Zooplankton Community Structure In Depot Pond Nh And A Comparison Of Seven New Hampshire Lakes, S. R. Bradt, C. Chungu

Center for Freshwater Biology

Physical, chemical and biological features of seven New Hampshire lakes were examined in September and October of 1997. Zooplankton communities exhibited evidence of “top-down” control in Milton Three Ponds (Depot, Norteast, and Townhouse Ponds), showing effects of a planktivorous fish, Alosa pseudoharengus: small mean body size, dominance of small grazers such as Bosmina, and absence of large grazers such as Daphnia. Phosphorus concentrations were positively correlated to fluorescence of all water fractions, chlorophyll a and a phytoplankton biotic pollution index (modified from Hillsenhoff, 1978), revealing a level of “bottom-up” control.

Swosu Fact Book Fall 1999, Denisa Engelman

Fact Books

I am proud to introduce the eighth annual Southwestern Oklahoma State University Fact Book. It provides a ready source of information to answer frequently asked questions about the University and its operations. Unless otherwise noted, the information in this Fact Book came from computer-generated reports that are printed following the tenth class day of each fall semester. Because of student fluctuations during the semester, numbers will not match other published enrollment numbers that may be based on enrollment at the end of a semester.
