Valuation Of Tree Aesthetics On Small Urban-Interface Properties, Richard Thompson, Richard Hanna, Jay Noel, Douglas D. Piirto Sep 1999

Valuation Of Tree Aesthetics On Small Urban-Interface Properties, Richard Thompson, Richard Hanna, Jay Noel, Douglas D. Piirto

Natural Resources Management and Environmental Sciences

A model was developed to predict the value contribution of forest condition on small urban-wildland interface properties. Sample data were collected on property transactions in the Lake Tahoe Basin of California between 1990 and 1994. A variant of the stand density index (SDI) and a tree health measure were added to a list of traditional property characteristics (i.e., location, house size, lot size) to express the influence of tree care on property value. These aesthetic characteristics were statistically significant despite the expected dominant influence of the traditional characteristics. Values for the forest density and health characteristics were estimated and reveal …

The Frat Volume 96 Number 04 July, August & September 1999, The National Fraternal Society Of The Deaf (Nfsd)

1991-2000

The Frat was the official member publication of the National Fraternal Society of the Deaf (NFSD). First established in 1902, the publication ran for just over a century, until its closure in 2006.---NFSD was an insurance business established in 1901. Its purposes were to provide insurance to mainly Deaf members, to serve as an advocate for the Deaf, and to provide community service and recreational opportunities through divisional activities. The existing insurance coverage was transferred to the Catholic Order of Foresters in 2005. The NFSD disbanded in 2007.---The Frat's main purpose was to keep members apprised of the activities of …

Review: Representing: Hip Hop Culture And The Production Of Black Cinema By S. Craig Watkinsreview, Nikitah O. Imani

Black Studies Faculty Publications

S. Craig Watkins's Representing: Hip Hop Culture and the Production of Black Cinema is an imposter. That is to say, the "hip hop" part of the subtitle has nothing to do with the substance of the text as I read it, leaving one to wonder whether it was chosen as a marketing strategy.

Physics and Astronomy Faculty Publications

Neutron resonances in 103Rh have been measured for neutron energies from 30 to 2000 eV using the time-of-flight method and the (n,γ) reaction. The rhodium resonance spectroscopy is essential for the analysis of parity violation measurements recently performed on neutron resonances in 103Rh. Neutron scattering and radiative widths were determined, and orbital angular momentum assignments made with a Bayesian analysis. The s-wave and p-wave strength functions and average level spacings were determined.

Leading Without Bleeding: An Information Technology Case Study At Union Pacific Railroad, Uma G. Gupta, Randy W. Butler, Thomas D. Milner

Journal of Transportation Management

In the railroad industry, the ability to assess damages to rail units in an accurate and timely manner is critical to the success and profits of a company. Accurate damage assessment of rail units also plays a key role in dispute resolution and negotiation with key vendors and suppliers (my.uprr.com/pub/dam-prev). This paper describes and presents information about Union Pacific Railroads (UPRR) and Science Applications International Corporations (SAIC) highly successful efforts in fully automating the data collection, inspection, assessment and reporting of damage claims to rail equipment. UPRR and SAIC used an innovative and highly creative approach to develop and implement …

Defining Dyadic Cost And Risk In International Trade: A Review Of Incoterms 2000 With Strategic Implications, Drew M. Stapleton, Virginie Saulnier

Journal of Transportation Management

As trade markets continue to expand due to developments in transportation and logistics technologies, distribution networks extend well beyond national frontiers. With obstacles such as distance, language, and business customs, allocation of legal responsibility between a buyer and a seller of goods becomes even more crucial in international commerce. This document is presented in three general sections. Reviewing the basics, including definition, origin, use and classifications of INCOTERMS constitutes the first section. The second section describes and analyzes the differences between each of the 13 INCOTERMS 2000. Lastly, the changes introduced by the 2000 revision are studied in more detail …
