Armut : Der Mensch Lebt Nicht Vom Brot Allein : Wege Zur Soziokulturellen Existenzsicherung, Isidor Wallimann, Susanne Schmid

Books

While the usual discussion about the poverty of the minimum financial security speaks, the authors ask what it could mean for to be living in a secure socio-cultural minimum. The fact is that poverty can be both "caused" by various forms of exclusion, as well as the socio-cultural exclusion promotes or "causes".

Technology In Practice (Section 2.31 Of The Comprehensive Clinical Psychology: Vol. 2. Professional Issues), Mark R. Mcminn

Faculty Publications - Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) Program

The contemporary practice of psychology requires a prudent balance of traditional and emerging communication methods. Interpersonal interactions in the context of human relationship (e.g., speech, emotional expressions, and nonverbal gestures) have been a vital part of emotional healing throughout many centuries, and research findings in the 1990s underscore the importance of relational factors in effective psychological interventions (Whiston & Sexton, 1993). In addition to the time honored interpersonal communication methods of professional psychology, rapid technological advances have propelled psychologists into another sphere of communication. Today's professional psychologist is increasingly expected to attain mastery in both of these communication methods-the very …

Providing Culturally Sensitive Services To Latino Clients: A Case Study Of A Non-Profit Organization, Darlene L. Piña

Clinical Sociology Review

This paper describes an evaluation of a non-profit human service organization's attempts to provide culturally sensitive services. Systems and constructivist theoretical perspectives are used to examine the problematic of providing effective and meaningful counseling and educational services to Spanish-speaking, Latino immigrant clients The two models of achieving cultural sensitivity—cultural compatibility and cultural competency—are assessed. Findings reveal that service was hindered by the ghettoization of Latino providers, external constraints on service delivery, role conflicts among Latino providers, and institutional silence and uncertainty about multicultural issues. These problems indicate that culturally sensitive service requires that culturally compatible services be incorporated in an …
