Twenty-seven male and 26 female roundworms were recovered from the stomach of Dugong dugon from Trang Province, Southern Thailand. The worms were kept in 70% alcohol and transported to the Department of Helminthology for study. The worm has three lips with interlabia, intestinal caecum and ventriculus. The male worm presents two spicules alate in the middle shaft, four pairs of precloacal papillae, two pairs of paracloacals and two pairs of postcloacal papillae. After comparison with specimens borrowed from Queensland Museum, the nematode was ascertained to be Paradujardinia halicoris.

Co-Expression Of Nitric Oxide Synthase And Neurokinin 1 Receptor In Neurones Of The Intermediolateral Column Of The Rat Spinal Cord, Ornsiri Suthamnatpong, Richard Morris
The Thai Journal of Veterinary Medicine
Spinal neurones in the thoracolumbar intermediolateral column (IML) of the rat were double-labelled for nitric oxide synthase (NOS) and neurokinin 1 receptor (NK1r) using a double indirect immunofluorescent technique. Immunostaining revealed a colocalisation of NOS and NK1r in a number of the IML neurones, particularly those that had relatively large but scattered cell bodies, and the area closed to lamina X. Neurones that expressed NK1r were more likely to co-express NOS whereas only small number of NOS-expressing neurones were NK1r immunoreactive. From this it may be concluded that the IML neurones, which are principally sympathetic preganglionic neurones, are composed of …

Climate Change And Nebraska
United States Environmental Protection Agency: Publications
The earth's climate is predicted to change because human activities are altering the chemical composition of the atmosphere through the buildup of greenhouse gases - primarily carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, and chlorofluorocarbons. The heat-trapping property of these greenhouse gases is undisputed. Although there is uncertainty about exactly how and when the earth's climate will respond to enhanced concentrations of greenhouse gases, observations indicate that detectable changes are under way. There most likely will be increases in temperature and changes in precipitation, soil moisture, and sea level, which could have adverse effects on many ecological systems, as well as on …

History, Opposition, And Salvation In Agarabi Adventism, George Westermark
History, Opposition, And Salvation In Agarabi Adventism, George Westermark
Pacific Studies
Growth of the Seventh-day Adventist Church was particularly strong in the Papua New Guinea Eastern Highlands in the last decade. This article discusses a variety of reasons for this change, emphasizing Adventist beliefs that create a distinct historical consciousness among church members. In the face of a rapidly changing society, it is argued, these beliefs structure an appealing ideological framework that facilitates both individual and collective transformation. Significant for Eastern Highland Adventists is a doctrine of opposition toward other Christian groups and a sense of their own unique role in the prophetic events that make up their historical model.

The Location Of The Carboxy-Terminal Region Of Γ Chains In Fibrinogen And Fibrin D Domains, Michael W. Mosesson, Kevin R. Siebenlist, David A. Meh, Joseph S. Wall, James F. Hainfeld
Biomedical Sciences Faculty Research and Publications
Elongated fibrinogen molecules are comprised of two outer “D” domains, each connected through a “coiled-coil” region to the central “E” domain. Fibrin forms following thrombin cleavage in the E domain and then undergoes intermolecular end-to-middle D:E domain associations that result in double-stranded fibrils. Factor XIIIa mediates crosslinking of the C-terminal regions of γ chains in each D domain (the γXL site) by incorporating intermolecular ɛ-(γ-glutamyl)lysine bonds between amine donor γ406 lysine of one γ chain and a glutamine acceptor at γ398 or γ399 of another. Several lines of evidence show that crosslinked γ chains extend “transversely” between the strands of …

Academic Comparison Of Athletes And Non-Athletes In A Rural High School, Holt E Zaugg
Faculty Publications
This study compares academic performance, behavior, and commitment of basketball and volleyball athletes and non-athletes in a rural Canadian high school. It compares mid-term and final grades in each school discipline; visits to an administrator for disciplinary visits; and demerit points for improper behavior; and estimates the mean weekly time commitment for athletes in each sport.
Prediction Of Health Patterns From General Appraisal, Attributions, Coping, And Trait Anxiety, Scott Hemenover, Richard A. Dienstbier
Prediction Of Health Patterns From General Appraisal, Attributions, Coping, And Trait Anxiety, Scott Hemenover, Richard A. Dienstbier
Department of Psychology: Faculty Publications
We examined the relationships among general appraisal style, attributional style, trait anxiety, coping styles, and health status (i.e., depression, hostility, and flu-like symptoms) in a study for which we also examined the validity of a trait measure of general appraisal. Participants completed personality measures at the beginning of an academic semester, and health assessments at regular intervals throughout the semester. Consistent with our predictions, after removing the influence of neuroticism and attributional style, general appraisal style led to more negative, and less positive affect 2 weeks later, and to more stressful and threatening appraisals of a life event occurring 3 …

Sailing In Safe Harbors: Recent Developments Regarding Lender Liability Under Cercla, Ron Burke
Pace Environmental Law Review
The Asset Conversation, Lender Liability, and Deposit Insurance Protection Act of 1996 amended the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA) to clarify under what circumstances secured creditors would and would not lose the protection of a statutory exemption from CERCLA § 107(a) owner or operator liability. This safe harbor exempts from liability a person who holds indicia of ownership in a facility provided that the indicia is held primarily to protect a security interest, and that the person does not participate in the management of the facility. Identifying the scope of the exemption became problematic over the last …

The Occurrence Of Learned Helplessness In Survivors Of Sudden Death Versus Survivors Of Non Sudden Death, Jennifer Doyce Wyatt
Theses
The purpose of this study was to investigate the occurrence of learned helplessness in survivors of sudden death versus survivors of non sudden death. Forty-six participants were volunteers from grief support groups. Participants were classified as survivors of sudden death or survivors of non sudden death. Sudden death was defined as death in which the re was no previous warning, such as an accident. Non sudden death was defined as death in which there was diagnosis or previous warning, such as cancer. Learned Helplessness was measured by the Learned Helplessness Scale. it was hypothesized that there will be a greater …

Condensing The Field: Internet Communication And Gestalt Community, Philip Brownell
Condensing The Field: Internet Communication And Gestalt Community, Philip Brownell
Doctor of Psychology (PsyD)
This article examines the influence of internet communication on the Gestalt community from the standpoint of the field. Drawing on current internet sources, field theorists, and Gestalt therapists, the work describes the internet. explaining key field dynamics, and it concludes that the global community of Gestalt therapy is undergoing rapid change due to internet influence. That community is being enriched; it is becoming more aware of itself, and consequently its individual members are experiencing a professional camaraderie made more complex and more richly connected. At the same time, because of this increasing connectedness, it is also condensing. lnternet communication is …
